A number of people have been arrested and warrants executed at addresses in Leeds as part of an investigation into theft and Class A drug supply offences.

The warrants were executed at addresses on Stafford Street, Hunslet; Chelsea Grove, Wortley; and Tempest Road, Beeston; combined with arrest enquiries at further addresses in Leeds and Bradford.

Seven men, aged 20, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 36, have been arrested on suspicion of offences including conspiracy to commit theft and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. They remain in custody at this time.

While officers were at the scene on Stafford Street, they noticed suspicious activity at a neighbouring property. Further enquiries were made with a significant cannabis farm located inside. Two men, aged 20 and 29, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of producing a Class B drug and abstraction of electricity.

Today’s operation follows the recovery of an HGV on Stafford Street, Leeds, on 5 May, which was linked to as curtain sider theft offence in Essex which occurred overnight between 30 April and 1 May. A significant amount of designer clothing was stolen, valued at nearly £500k.

Inspector Mark Lund, of Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“This has been a significant police operation across Leeds and Bradford which has resulted in a number of arrests and suspected stolen property being found and recovered.

“While conducting this operation, officers acting on their instincts have also managed to uncover a large-scale cannabis farm in a nearby property, and we have made further arrests in connection with that.

“Our work now continues in conducting extensive searches and interviewing those in custody. I hope the public are reassured by the action that has been taken.”
