Daniel Farke will be key when it comes to ins and outs at Leeds United this window, as the 49ers have trust in him.

It’s always a bold move to put full faith in a manager to handle the signings of the summer but this is the 49ers’ transfer strategy at Leeds.

Farke will know if the signings backfire, he will come under the radar, and his job at Leeds could quite easily come under threat.

The idea should be that transfers get sorted quickly, so Farke can prepare with the bulk of the squad for pre-season.

But one player is making things difficult by giving yet another transfer hint on joining his former club.

Joel Piroe has come under scrutiny for his performances at the back end of the season, but there is no denying it’s been an extraordinary season for the Dutchman, who scooped up the Championship golden boot.

Despite this though, inconsistency has come into play and led to Patrick Bamford being mooted to start over Piroe.

Making matters worse for the Dutchman, he has been open and honest about his future with Piroe saying he wants to join PSV, his former club.

Well now, the 25-year-old is back at his antics, and this time it seems like a ‘come and get me plea’ after speaking to Voetbal International.

“That club is the most ingrained in me,” Piroe said.

My time there didn’t end the way I had hoped. So, I will always be open to a return. It’s not realistic now. But who knows, later.”

Leeds could cash in on Piroe with PSV situation

The striker has been a revelation since arriving from Swansea City for £10m in 2023, scoring 33 league goals.

But he is yet to be tested in the top flight, and this might raise concerns for Farke to look at other striking options.

Jamie Vardy has been mooted for Leeds with Farke needing to rely on experience next season, which Piroe ultimately lacks.

The Whites do need a new striker, and with Piroe’s form at its hottest, Leeds could look to cash in, and going by PSV’s striker situation, it could work for all parties.

Luuk De Jong remains the Dutch side’s main number nine, and although his 13 goals this season look solid, PSV could look at other options considering his age of 34, and this is where Piroe comes into play for a potential future transfer

Joel Piroe for Leeds (24/25) Luuk De Jong for PSV (24/25) Games played 46 29 Goals 19 13 Shots on target per 90 1.19 1.03 Chances created 37 48 Touches in opposition box per 90 4.57 8.61

Despite this possibility, Piroe seems happy at Elland Road, but things could change over the coming months with a PSV return in mind for the striker.
