Matheus Cunha likely has just two games left as a Wolves player.

The Brazilian has played a huge part for Wanderers this season but also had moments of controversy – and it looks like the season will culminate in him leaving the club.

Matheus Cunha has been heavily linked with Manchester United for the past few weeks, although just lately there’s been mention of Arsenal and Newcastle United still being in the hunt.

But you will struggle to find a Wolves fan who thinks Cunha will still be at Molineux in 2025/26.

Ultimately, the £62.5 million release clause he’s got in his contract is very reasonable, and several clubs are seemingly prepared to trigger it.

But he is United’s to lose at the moment, and Molineux News has received word from transfer expert Graeme Bailey regarding a possible timeframe for the deal.

Cunha is pretty much nailed on to leave Wolves this summer.

Not only is his release clause very reasonable for other teams, but Wolves have shown they are capable of winning games of football without their current number 10.

Fans feel more comfortable over the prospect of losing him compared to earlier in the season, and it now seems only a matter of time before that happens.

And we believe it could happen sooner rather than later.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey told Molineux News about when Wolves hope to sell Cunha: “I think the Cunha deal will be tied up with Manchester United before the end of the season.

“They all want it done quickly. Wolves are taking instalments on it, it is what it is. I fully expect us to know he’ll be a United player by the end of the season, so within a couple of weeks, they’re hoping it’ll be done.

“Wolves will want as much time in the summer to look at options to replace him. If Wolves can strike early, it gives them opportunities over other teams who will be scrambling around.”

Early Cunha sale would be ideal for Wolves

Cunha leaving Wolves in the coming weeks would be ideal for the club.

Of course, there is always the possibility of other clubs coming to the table and trying to hijack the deal United have got in place.

But seemingly United are Cunha’s top choice, and hopefully everything can go smoothly.

Wolves would then have plenty of time to reinvest some of that money on new players to try and take the club to the next level.
