National Highways has issued a diversion route for both directions:
Northbound drivers should follow the Hollow Diamond symbol:
Exit at J12 and take the A5120 northeast to Westoning
Continue on the A5120 through Westoning to the Steppingley Road roundabout
Take the second exit onto Steppingley Road and pass Flitwick Railway Station
Merge onto Fordfield Road, then continue to the A507
Join the A507 Ridgemont bypass, continue straight over roundabouts
Merge onto the A421 Bedford Road and rejoin the M1 at J13
Southbound drivers should follow the Hollow Square symbol, using the same route in reverse.
