Good morning and welcome back to the City AM <\/strong>liveblog.<\/p>\n

Markets were rocked yesterday after reports emerged from Iranian state media that Tehran was pulling out of peace talks with the US.<\/p>\n

A proposal that included a 60-day cessation of violence and a play to re-open the Strait of Hormuz has hung in the balance for the last week, though waited on final approval from President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Both Iran and the US exchanged strikes in the last week as each accused the other of violating the ceasefire. As Israel launched an offensive on Lebanon, news broke out that Iran was ending \u201ctalks and exchange of texts through intermediaries\u201d with the US until Israel ends its offensives in both Gaza and Beirut.<\/p>\n

Brent crude \u2013 the international benchmark for oil \u2013 inched back up towards $95 per barrel following the fresh tensions, as markets stayed cautious on supply disruptions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump\u00a0reacted to the news in an interview with\u00a0CNBC\u00a0where he said: \u201cI don\u2019t care if they\u2019re over, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI really don\u2019t care. I couldn\u2019t care less,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

He added that the long-running negotiations had \u201cstarted to get very boring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier on Monday, Trump had told NBC News that the US should \u201cgo silent\u201d in the negotiations because \u201cwe have been talking too much\u201d.<\/p>\n

The President would later issue a Truth Social post<\/a> \u2013 after an alleged call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu where Trump lashed out \u2013 saying both Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to stop fighting.<\/p>\n

Though Trump appeared less than optimistic, adding: \u201cLet\u2019s see how long that lasts.\u201d Hours prior to the post Netanyahu wrote on X that Israeli forces will continue its operation as planned in southern Lebanon and that its position remained unchanged.<\/p>\n
