{"id":1000156,"date":"2026-06-02T09:27:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T09:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1000156\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T09:27:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T09:27:18","slug":"saic-motor-to-build-mg-production-plant-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1000156\/","title":{"rendered":"SAIC Motor to build MG production plant in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-356916 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/SAIC_Motor_620-scaled.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"337\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>MG is to set up a car manufacturing plant in Galicia, Spain with \u00a0\u20ac200m investment.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will create more than 2,000 jobs across Europe with production scheduled to begin in 2028, with an annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>MG, which is owned by the Chinese car giant SAIC Motor,\u00a0said the announcement comes at a \u201cpivotal moment\u201d for the European automotive industry, as the EU\u2019s 2035 zero-emission targets continue to accelerate the shift toward electrified mobility.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, MG has added to its product range with the MG4 EV Urban and the MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid.<\/p>\n<p>In the UK, MG market share stands at 4.04% in the year to April with close on 31,000 sales.<\/p>\n<p>William Wang, managing director, MG UK and Europe said: \u201cThrough our \u2018In Europe, For Europe\u2019 strategy, we are not simply responding to the future of mobility\u2014we are helping define it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy investing in local capabilities, strengthening our European footprint and fostering a more competitive automotive ecosystem, we are accelerating Europe\u2019s journey towards a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MG is to set up a car manufacturing plant in Galicia, Spain with \u00a0\u20ac200m investment.
