The company had to rework the chip for a newer 3D V-Cache stacking process after the original production method was no longer available.<\/p>\n<p>As we already reported, AMD confirmed the <a href=\"https:\/\/videocardz.com\/newz\/amd-confirms-ryzen-7-5800x3d-10th-anniversary-edition-for-349-launches-june-25th\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition<\/a> at Computex 2026. The processor launches on June 25 with a suggested retail price of $349. It keeps the same core specifications as the original model, with 8 Zen 3 cores, 16 threads, a 3.4 GHz base clock, up to 4.5 GHz boost, 100MB of total cache and a 105W TDP.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>AMD confirms bringing 5800X3D back wasn\u2019t simple<\/p>\n<p>The new detail is that AMD could not simply restart production using the original process. McAfee said the first-generation TSMC stacking facility used for the original 5800X3D went offline. AMD then had to qualify the older Zen 3 X3D design for a newer second-generation stacking process.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s not as simple as just bringing back the 5800X3D. The original stacking process that was used at TSMC changed when we went from first-gen to second-gen cache, so we had to re-engineer that product, and there actually was a fair amount of development that went into bringing back the 5800X3D.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 AMD\u2019s David McAfee<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a class=\"mobx\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.videocardz.com\/1\/2026\/06\/AMD-RYZEN-5800X3D-ANNIVERSARY-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"postbox[234231]\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AMD-RYZEN-5800X3D-ANNIVERSARY-1-850x426.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"426\" class=\"aligncenter size-featured-image wp-image-233611\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"source-caption\">Source: AMD<\/p>\n<p>That work included building samples, testing reliability and validating the bonding process again. McAfee said the change affected how the silicon dies are bonded and stacked. This explains why the CPU disappeared from normal retail channels for a long time despite continued demand from AM4 users.<\/p>\n<p>So, despite unchanged specifications, this is not just an old CPU placed in a new box. It is a requalified 5800X3D using a newer cache-stacking process, prepared for another retail run on the AM4 platform.
