Following yesterday\u2019s announcement of Rayman Legends Retold, some fans might be wondering if we could ever see a remake of Rayman 1. Unfortunately, that seems unlikely to happen.<\/p>\n
Ubisoft\u2019s Loic Gounon was recently chatting with GamesRadar about all the reasons why a Rayman 1 remake isn\u2019t in the cards. He said that it\u2019s a \u201cdifficult\u201d game to remake, and Ubisoft feels like Rayman Origins \u201cis sort of a reboot of Rayman 1.\u201d Ultimately, such a project would be \u201cnear a mission impossible\u201d.<\/p>\n
Gounon, the brand producer on brand producer, told GamesRadar<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s been tried. I think it\u2019s a game that\u2019s really difficult to remake, and I think, in a way, the answer to remaking Rayman 1 is Rayman Origins, and we went through those arguments internally.\u201d<\/p>\n Rayman Origins is sort of a reboot of Rayman 1. There are some of the characters, some of the places. (Rayman 1 is) super slow and very old school game design, but if you start changing that, the metrics, the sense of speed, it\u2019s another game. It\u2019s Origins.<\/p>\n I would call it near a mission impossible to remake Rayman 1, honestly. That\u2019s why, when we decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary, we felt that keeping Rayman 1 as intact as it was, going for a bit more of a documentary approach, how the franchise was born, was a better angle.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n This might be disappointing to hear, but we\u2019re at least seeing Rayman return in a big way.
