Dillon Pennington says Notts Outlaws have a big opportunity in front of them ahead of two Vitality Blast games in three days at Trent Bridge, starting with the visit of Warwickshire Bears tomorrow (6:30pm start).<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I think we’ve got a really good opportunity with two games at home, two big games,” said Pennington.<\/p>\n

“It’s big for our position in the table, and for moving forward and gaining momentum into that second half of the group stage. It’s a really exciting weekend.”<\/p>\n

Pennington retains his spot in a 15-strong squad that is bolstered by the return of all-rounder Liam Patterson-White, who missed the first four games due to England Lions duty.<\/p>\n

The compressed nature of the Blast schedule means there is little time to dwell on results, something Pennington believes can work in the Outlaws’ favour after Sunday’s impressive performance.<\/p>\n

“We played okay at Derby, but just didn’t get across the line, and then we played really well against Durham,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully we can use that momentum and take that into the next couple of games. It’s absolutely possible to get on a roll, and hopefully we can start doing that.”<\/p>\n

Pennington enjoyed a memorable afternoon against Durham, striking with the first ball of the game as the Outlaws produced one of their most complete performances of the campaign so far.<\/p>\n

“I’m feeling much better,” he said. “Hopefully we can be really clear, all bowl like we did against Durham, and take that forward into the next couple of games.”<\/p>\n

The victory showcased the resilience of the Outlaws’ bowling attack, which bounced back strongly, and Pennington credited the collective spirit within the group for the response.<\/p>\n

“I think we did that really well,” he said. “Everyone backed everyone else up and we were really good in the field too. The energy was great and hopefully we can bring that into this game.”<\/p>\n

Friday’s fixture also marks the first of two home matches in three days, with Pennington eager to make the most of playing in front of the Trent Bridge crowd.<\/p>\n

“It’s such a good place to play,” he said. “Friday night at Trent Bridge, lights on. It’s unbelievable when the crowd get behind you and we’re on top.<\/p>\n

“Then we’ve got Sunday afternoon to finish the block, so it’s such a good weekend to be part of.”<\/p>\n

Despite a poor start for the Bears in their own Blast campaign, Pennington still expects another stern examination for the Outlaws.<\/p>\n

“They’re a very good side,” he said, “but hopefully we can use our winning momentum from Sunday to make sure we don’t let them across the line.”<\/p>\n

The Outlaws’ success against Durham was built on contributions throughout the side, particularly with the bat.<\/p>\n

George Munsey’s innings anchored the total, while Freddie McCann continued to flourish as he shared a 91-run stand with the Scotland opener to take the Outlaws to the brink of victory.<\/p>\n

“I think Freddie’s done well, and George Munsey did so well to bat through the innings and play the way that he did,” Pennington said.<\/p>\n
