{"id":10065,"date":"2025-04-11T06:20:19","date_gmt":"2025-04-11T06:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/10065\/"},"modified":"2025-04-11T06:20:19","modified_gmt":"2025-04-11T06:20:19","slug":"edinburgh-lure-scotland-international-to-capital-while-exeter-bolster-ranks-planet-rugby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/10065\/","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh lure Scotland international to capital while Exeter bolster ranks : Planet Rugby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Edinburgh have lured Scotland international Dylan Richardson to the Scottish capital on a two-year deal, the URC outfit have confirmed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The South African-native, 26, has won six caps for Scotland since his debut last year and joins from fellow URC side the Sharks.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Exeter Chiefs have also completed the signing of Gloucester scrum-half Charlie Chapman ahead of the 2025\/26 season, becoming their fifth signing for next year.<\/p>\n<p>Edinburgh sign Dylan Richardson from the Sharks<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/edinburgh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a>, who sit eighth in the URC at the time of writing, Richardson said: \u201cI\u2019m incredibly excited for this next chapter in my career. Moving to Scotland and joining a club with such a strong history and passionate support base is a massive opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to embracing the new environment, challenging myself both on and off the field, and contributing to the continued success of Edinburgh Rugby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He is also the latest Scottish international to tie their future down with the capital outfit, with Pierre Schoeman and Grant Gilchrist both recently penning extensions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udfc6\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/news\/leinster-have-seriously-evolved-under-jacques-nienaber-as-stars-aligning-for-fifth-champions-cup-title\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leinster have \u2018seriously evolved\u2019 under Jacques Nienaber as \u2018stars aligning\u2019 for fifth Champions Cup title<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt added: \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to welcome a player of Dylan\u2019s quality to Edinburgh Rugby. He\u2019s a strong and dynamic player who brings plenty of experience from his time with the Sharks and his international appearances for Scotland. His versatility, being able to play both hooker and in the back row, will be a real asset for us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving worked with Dylan previously, I\u2019m very familiar with his game and I know he will be a good fit culturally. He fits the profile of the squad we\u2019re trying to build here at Edinburgh, and we\u2019re excited to welcome him to the club this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richardson also adds versatility to the Edinburgh pack, as he can cover both hooker and back-row.<\/p>\n<p>Exeter Chiefs draft in latest scrum-half<\/p>\n<p>Chapman is the latest scrum-half to head to Sandy Park for the 25\/26 Premiership season, following in the footsteps of former Cherry and White teammate Stephen Varney.<\/p>\n<p>He also joins a growing list of recruits for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/exeter-chiefs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chiefs<\/a>, with Julian Heaven, Joseph Dweba and Tom Hooper also joining the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m extremely excited to join Exeter Chiefs,\u201d Chapman said upon his announcement. \u201cChiefs are a team with a rich history of success, and they have an extremely passionate fan base. It was an area of our squad that we wanted to strengthen and create more competition at within the side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCharlie has got a lot of experience in the Premiership already but is also a guy that\u2019s looking for a new challenge and wants to look to potentially win things in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s someone we\u2019ve looked at closely. He\u2019s got great physical attributes \u2013 great pace, very high fitness \u2013 so we think he could be very good at adding tempo and speed to what we\u2019re wanting to do and how we want to play in attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a guy with great character, so we\u2019re really looking forward to working with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are some things we\u2019re going to do moving forward to create a fresh start.
