After a four-year wait, a brand new trailer for the third season of HBO drama Euphoria has dropped - and it reveals just how much things have changed for Zendaya???s Rue and her former high school peers. Euphoria was HBO???s very first YA drama: a scandalous blend of drugs, sex and one very meta theater production. Now, the Euphoria cast is out of high school and thrust into the real world ??? one that includes OnlyFans, marital woes and drug muling. The late Eric Dane is seen briefly in the trailer after he returned to Euphoria shortly after announcing his ALS diagnosis in April 2025. Dane died in February, less than a year after going public with his ALS diagnosis and will make his final appearance as Cal in this season. After getting tangled up with drug dealer Laurie (Martha Kelly), by the end of Season 2, Zendays???s Rue was no longer using drugs. But the trailer for the new season shows Rue even deeper into the drug game, with DEA agents interviewing her about whether she???s ever been to Mexico. Cut to Rue swallowing what appear to be plastic-wrapped balls of drugs, presumably so she can take them across the border. One person who serves as a guiding light for Rue is her sponsor, Ali, played by Colman Domingo. But the trailer suggests that Ali may be dealing with a medical issue this season when it cuts to a shot of him receiving oxygen in a hospital bed. Sweeney???s Cassie and Elordi???s Nate had the most tumultuous relationship of Season 2, as they were hooking up behind the back of Maddy (Alexa Demie), Cassie???s best friend and Nate???s on-again, off-again girlfriend. The trailer shows that the two aren???t only still together - they???re getting married. The onetime besties were at each other???s throats in the Season 2 finale, but they???re hanging out again, with Maddy helping Cassie shoot for her OnlyFans account. The new season also shows Jules (Hunter Schafer) as an art student who moonlights as a sugar baby - a job that, seemingly, allows her to reconnect with Cal, Nate???s father. Meanwhile Lexi (Maude Apatow) is, once again, in a vastly different TV show from her peers. She???s working for a producer, played by Sharon Stone, who tells Lexi that the network really loved the storyline she pitched for the series they???re working on. Euphoria Season 3 premieres on HBO on April 12, 2026. *BACKGRID DOES NOT CLA Pictured: Jacob Elordi BACKGRID UK 31 MARCH 2026 BYLINE MUST READ: HBO Max / BACKGRID *BACKGRID DOES NOT CLAIM ANY COPYRIGHT OR LICENSE IN THE ATTACHED MATERIAL. The very thing which makes audiences care for characters stuck in conflicts was missing – a slow-burning struggle that made the resolution worth it. Not short bursts after long waiting times that make us forget why we cared in the first place.

I understand that at times, these long seasons with 22 episodes on average can tend to get accused of having too much ‘filler’.

But, slow-paced, sometimes boring, episodes are necessary for characters to be met with life-changing realisations, or get a chance for them to get more relatable – we begin to live our everyday boring life with them.

 <img width="646" height="431" src="https://www.europesays.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/SEI_278377437-fee4.jpg" class="article-image wp-image-27645857" alt="Bridgerton.
