Coronation Street is set to see Daniel Osbourne pushed into yet more turmoil tonight as a visit from social services forces him to confront the consequences of recent events involving his son Bertie.<\/p>\n
According to Radio Times<\/a>, Daniel’s problems intensify after he discovers that lodger Jodie Ramsey was the person behind the cruel online hate campaign targeting him. The revelation sends him into a furious outburst in the Rovers Return<\/a>, before he turns to alcohol in an attempt to cope.<\/p>\n As Radio Times reported, when Daniel returns home, he is told by babysitter Kirk Sutherland that Bertie has not yet eaten. Daniel soon passes out on the sofa, leaving Bertie unsupervised in the flat.<\/p>\n Left on his own, Bertie tries to make food for himself. He places a foil-covered bowl into the microwave, which causes sparks and smoke to fill the room. When the fire alarm goes off, Bertie flees to the Barlow household to teach Daniel a lesson.<\/p>\n The following morning brings further chaos. Daniel wakes up to alarming news after a teacher from Bessie Street Primary expresses concern that Bertie hasn’t arrived at school.<\/p>\n Terrified something has happened to his son, Daniel searches frantically around town.<\/p>\n Tensions rise when he crosses paths with Tracy Barlow, who suggests she may know more than she is letting on.<\/p>\n This leads to a heated confrontation with Adam Barlow, during which Daniel loses control and accidentally knocks Ken Barlow<\/a> onto the sofa while attempting to throw a punch.<\/p>\n Daniel’s situation takes another serious turn when social worker Ruth Hawley arrives at the door, leaving him fearing the worst.<\/p>\n Daniel reassures Bertie before inviting Ruth inside. However she quickly makes clear she is not there to take immediate action or remove Bertie from his care.<\/p>\n Instead, she explains that her role is to assess whether Daniel requires additional support as a parent and informs him she will be recommending a Child in Need plan to provide further assistance.<\/p>\n Daniel initially becomes convinced that someone close to him has reported him, with suspicion falling on Ken, Tracy, Adam, Kirk, Alya Nazir and newcomer Idris. However he is later forced to reconsider his assumptions.<\/p>\n Realising his mistake, Daniel apologises to Adam and Alya after discovering the truth. Concerns were actually raised by a Bessie Street Primary teacher who overheard Bertie speaking about difficulties at home.<\/p>\n With support now being put in place, the question remains whether this intervention will help Daniel regain control of his life.<\/p>\n Coronation Street<\/a> airs tonight (Sunday 7 June) at 8:30pm.
