The new administration also includes the Better Birmingham and Birmingham Independent Groups.<\/p>\n<p>Harmer pledged to prioritise basic services, singling out the city&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/EXCLUSIVE-Illegal-deal-to-end-Birmingham-strike-risks-200m-equal-pay-bill\/64292\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">long-running bin strike<\/a><\/strong> as an issue requiring urgent resolution. He said the coalition demonstrated what could be achieved by putting the city \u2018above narrow party politics.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Pritchard said the Greens were committed to building \u2018a greener, safer and fairer city\u2019 and to doing \u2018politics differently.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/form\/bulletin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Politics &#038; Policy banner.png\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Birmingham City Council \u00a9 4kclips \/ Shutterstock.com.
