The casting marks the first time in franchise history that Scooby-Doo will be played by a real dog. His name and age are being kept under wraps \u2014 for now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tScooby-Doo: Origins is currently in production in Atlanta and will premiere globally on Netflix in 2027. The previously announced (human) cast includes Mckenna Grace as Daphne Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred and Paul Walter Hauser. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNetflix also will not share Hauser\u2019s character, so in all likelihood the dude is voicing the dog. OK Paul, now give me three \u201crut-rohs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOrigins is described as a \u201cmodern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder,\u201d the logline reads. \u201cTogether with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJosh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are showrunners on the Warner Bros. Television series.
