{"id":1013695,"date":"2026-06-08T18:26:34","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T18:26:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1013695\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T18:26:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T18:26:34","slug":"fire-next-to-track-at-london-bridge-causes-major-rush-hour-disruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1013695\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire next to track at London Bridge causes MAJOR rush hour disruption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Rail passengers are facing disruption in and out of central London this evening following a fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The disruption follows a fire near the railway at London Bridge in Bermondsey, with emergency services responding to a large blaze which has sent thick smoke across parts of the capital and affected rail line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Passengers travelling on Southeastern, Thameslink, and Southern services through London Bridge are among those affected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">15 fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters have been called to the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The London Fire Brigade has also issued an \u201cavoid the area\u201d warning while crews continue to tackle the blaze.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Services are currently unable to run normally through London Bridge, with trains being cancelled, diverted or revised.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Trains are being diverted to London Victoria, while Hastings line services are starting and terminating at Tonbridge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tickets are accepted at no extra cost on <a href=\"http:\/\/tube.tfl.gov.uk\/default.asp?ref=au\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:London Underground;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;London Underground&quot;}\" class=\"link \">London Underground<\/a> services between London terminals, the Elizabeth line, Docklands Light Railway, High-Speed services, and on Thameslink and Southern services via reasonable routes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Passengers are advised to use alternative routes where possible and to check before travelling, with disruption expected to continue until around 8.45pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Southeastern has warned that services and alternative routes are likely to be busier than normal, and passengers should allow extra time for their journeys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Travellers are encouraged to check their journey before travelling using National Rail\u2019s real-time Journey Planner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Those delayed by the disruption may be eligible for compensation and are advised to keep their ticket and note their journey details to support any claim.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.london-now.co.uk\/news\/26176841.live-avoid-area-warning-huge-plumes-smoke-seen-river-thames\/?ref=ed_latest\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:This is a breaking story.
