Put your money where your mouth is\u2014that was Sarah Perlman\u2019s motivation for having her company,\u00a0Silverbrook Marketing<\/a>, sponsor the Prince William Chamber of Commerce\u00a0Women\u2019s Empowerment Conference<\/a> taking place on March 6 to 8.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t have as much time to volunteer as I would like, so I try to find other meaningful ways to support women.\u201d<\/p>\n The conference\u2019s promise to \u201cinspire, foster support, and mentor women to meet their full potential\u201d describes Silverbrook Marketing\u2019s approach to women\u2019s empowerment. As a manager, Sarah has mentored many women\u2014from employees to interns\u2014and helped them grow in their marketing roles. She\u2019s also volunteered through other groups as a mentor to women, whether it\u2019s through Kappa Delta sorority or specialty groups like Girls Who Print. So, when she started her own business in January 2020, Sarah knew she wanted to use her powers for good.<\/p>\n \u201cI saw a quote once that said, \u2018Be the person you needed when you were younger,\u2019\u201d says Sarah. \u201cIt resonated with me, and I try to pass along my advice wherever it is requested. Whether it\u2019s tactical advice on how to perform better in marketing or personal advice on how to grow your career and what it\u2019s like being a working mom, I\u2019m happy to have others learn from my mistakes!\u201d<\/p>\n As a business owner, Sarah is able to create internships that can empower younger women. She also chooses to work with other women small business owners and hire them whenever possible.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re all just trying to find our way in the business world, and I firmly believe we should be lifting each other up. There\u2019s room for us all to succeed because success looks different to each person. Plus, it\u2019s more fun to celebrate success with others!\u201d<\/p>\n Because of the digital nature of business these days, most of Silverbrook Marketing\u2019s current clients are located outside Northern Virginia. But Sarah desires to make an impact locally and support her neighbors. As a self-proclaimed \u201cextroverted introvert,\u201d she can find common ground with almost anyone but is sometimes hesitant to approach new people.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Prince William Chamber has built such a tight-knit community\u2014which is wonderful! But it can be hard to enter a room where it seems like everyone knows everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
