In Tom Quinn\u2019s new book, \u201cYes, Ma\u2019am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants,\u201d an anonymous royal staffer claims that the sisters-in-law made each other cry when they were at odds<\/a> over the dress Princess Charlotte would wear as part of Markle\u2019s wedding party.<\/p>\n In the lead-up to Markle\u2019s wedding to\u00a0Prince Harry<\/a>, it was alleged that the women got into a tiff over the tailoring of then-3-year-old Charlotte\u2019s dress that left Middleton crying.<\/p>\n Tom Quinn\u2019s new biography. POOL\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n However, during a 2021 sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, <\/a>the Duchess of Sussex, 43, claimed \u201cthe reverse happened,\u201d meaning she was the one crying over what transpired.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a really hard week of the wedding,\u201d Markle said, noting that Middleton, also 43, was \u201cupset about something,\u201d but later \u201cowned it.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Markle, the future queen later \u201cbrought me flowers and a note apologizing.\u201d<\/p>\n Prince Harry and Meghan Markle\u2019s wedding day. Getty Images<\/p>\n At the time, sources told People there was significant \u201cstress\u201d leading up to the wedding.<\/p>\n \u201cKate had only just given birth to\u00a0Prince Louis\u00a0and was feeling quite emotional,\u201d royal reporter Camilla Tominey wrote in\u00a0the Telegraph<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n In Harry\u2019s 2023 memoir \u201cSpare,\u201d<\/a> the royal, 40,\u00a0wrote that Middleton texted Markle four days prior to their nuptials, saying: \u201cCharlotte\u2019s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. MEGA<\/p>\n The tailor, Ajay Mirpui, spoke out after Harry\u2019s book<\/a> was published and recounted the tense situation.<\/p>\n \u201cIf anything happened in the background, it didn\u2019t happen in front of me,\u201d the tailor told the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0in an interview at the time. \u201cBut yes, weddings are stressful at the best of times \u2014 and especially one at this high level; you\u2019ve got to respect that. They were faced with a problem like anyone gets at a wedding, with last-minute hitches.
