{"id":1015254,"date":"2026-06-09T11:57:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T11:57:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1015254\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T11:57:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T11:57:15","slug":"uk-and-allies-sanction-networks-enabling-settler-violence-in-the-west-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1015254\/","title":{"rendered":"UK and allies sanction networks enabling settler violence in the West Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Foreign Secretary to set out tougher UK action in response to record settlement expansion and rising settler violence in West\u00a0Bank, and\u00a0push for urgent implementation of the\u00a020 Point\u00a0Peace Plan<\/li>\n<li>UK brings together\u00a0Australia,\u00a0Canada,\u00a0France,\u00a0New Zealand\u00a0and Norway\u00a0to deliver\u00a0coordinated\u00a0sanctions\u00a0against\u00a0networks financing and enabling settler attacks against Palestinians in the West\u00a0Bank, and\u00a0firmly\u00a0advises\u00a0British\u00a0businesses against activity in illegal Israeli settlements\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>UK takes further action to support recovery in Gaza, including providing \u00a31m for humanitarian demining,\u00a0and\u00a0at least \u00a310m\u00a0supporting the PA to navigate the fiscal crisis and\u00a0sustain critical\u00a0services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a statement to Parliament today, the Foreign Secretary will announce that the UK, alongside partners (Canada,\u00a0France\u00a0and Norway) is imposing new sanctions. The UK will impose sanctions on six entities and one individual involved in financing,\u00a0enabling\u00a0and carrying out settler violence in the occupied West Bank. Australia and New Zealand published coordinated sanctions last week.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Australia, Canada, France, Norway, and the United Kingdom\u00a0have all taken the historic decision to recognise the State of Palestine, reflecting the rights of the Palestinian people and as part of our common efforts to protect the viability of the two-state solution.\u202fToday, they are acting together again in support of the same\u00a0objectives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Those\u00a0designated\u00a0will face asset freezes and, where\u00a0appropriate, travel bans and Director Disqualifications. These sanctions will disrupt the flows of finance that have allowed extremist settler groups to act with impunity in the West Bank and\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0the UK\u2019s commitment to a two-state solution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The UK position remains clear: settlements are illegal under international law, they undermine international efforts to secure a just, lasting peace in the Middle East, and they risk doing permanent damage to the prospects of a secure and viable Palestinian state being able to live in peace alongside a secure Israel.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, the Foreign Secretary has also announced that the UK\u2019s official guidance will explicitly\u00a0advise\u00a0businesses against economic and financial activity in illegal settlements. The UK continues to support trade with Israel within 1967 lines, but states that there should be no economic involvement in illegal settlements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper is expected to say:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Today we are acting with our international partners to sanction those who support and sponsor violence against Palestinian communities in the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Settler expansion and violence is illegal and a fundamental threat to the viability of a two-state solution, and to long-term peace and security for Palestinians and Israelis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">These measures show the UK is leading with our partners to target those who are fuelling this violence.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>These steps come against a backdrop of continued illegal settlement expansion including the E1 project, which further undermines the viability of a two-state solution, and record levels of settler violence designed deliberately to destroy Palestinian homes and livelihoods in the West Bank.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The UK continues to urge the Government of Israel to end settlement expansion, clamp down on settler violence, prosecute those responsible, and lift ongoing restrictions on the functioning of the Palestinian economy. The UK will not hesitate to take further action if the situation does not improve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s measures form part of a wider UK effort to advance peace and security in Israel and Palestine. This includes action to support implementation of the\u00a020 Point\u00a0Plan for Gaza and protect and strengthen\u00a0a viable\u00a0Palestinian state.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Foreign Secretary is also expected to announce today that the UK will provide an\u00a0additional\u00a0\u00a31m for humanitarian mine action in Gaza in addition to the \u00a34m already contributed. She will call on the Government of Israel to open all crossings and remove arbitrary restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid and equipment to ensure that UK aid can reach all those who desperately need it. She will also announce that she will attend the Palestinian Donor Group in Paris in July to press for a coordinated approach with\u00a0other key partners.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Foreign Secretary will confirm at least \u00a310m in financial\u00a0and technical\u00a0assistance\u00a0to the Palestinian Authority in\u00a02026, including\u00a0support\u00a0to\u00a0navigate the fiscal crisis and\u00a0sustain\u00a0frontline services such as healthcare.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Notes to editors\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sanctioned individuals and entities include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Farms Association: provides financial and organisational support to Israeli settler farms and outposts in the West Bank, including those associated with violence,\u00a0intimidation\u00a0and forced displacement of Palestinians\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ahavat Gilad: serves as a financial conduit for the Farms Association, channelling donations to settler outposts including those associated with violence against Palestinians\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ari\u00a0Yshag:\u00a0fundraises\u00a0for illegal settler outposts associated with violence,\u00a0intimidation\u00a0and forced displacement of Palestinians\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Artzenu: promotes, finances and resources settler farms and outposts associated with violence against Palestinians, including fundraising for tactical military equipment for armed settler squads\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Shivat Zion\u00a0Lerigvey\u00a0Admata: the registered legal vehicle through which\u00a0Artzenu\u2019s\u00a0financial activities are conducted, channelling donations to outposts linked to serious human rights abuses\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Eyal Hari Yehuda: Construction and demolition company that facilitates, supports and is responsible for owners, staff, associates and family members who have used company resources while hired on construction and demolition jobs in the West Bank to destroy Palestinian land and property, as well as physically attack, shoot and kill Palestinians, which has led to the wider displacement of Palestinians.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Itamar Yehuda Levi: owner of EYAL HARI YEHUDA COMPANY LTD (also designated today) that facilitates, supports and is responsible for owners, staff, associates and family members who have used company resources while hired on construction and demolition jobs in the West Bank to destroy Palestinian land and property, as well as physically attack, shoot and kill Palestinians, which has led to the wider displacement of Palestinians.\u202f\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Explainer of business guidance: The overseas business risk service provides information on various risks in overseas markets.\u202fWe intend these pages to support and guide businesses.
