All bus and rail services will be suspended in Northern Ireland this evening amid fears of further violence, Translink has confirmed.<\/p>\n

A Glider bus was torched on the Newtownards Road in Belfast on Tuesday <\/a>evening as disorder flared across the city, and elsewhere in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

Translink<\/a> has now moved to suspend all bus and rail services this evening \u201cdue to expected protests\u201d.<\/p>\n

Services are expected to resume in the morning.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said: \u201cThere will be no bus departures after 5pm and no train services will depart after 6pm. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere is currently a temporary suspension of some bus services until 1.30pm after which time services will resume. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working closely with a range of stakeholders, including the PSNI, our Trade Unions, and other key partners to make appropriate arrangements to keep our passengers, staff and the wider public safe. <\/p>\n

\u201cPassengers are advised that services may be subject to alteration or cancellation. Where possible, passengers should travel earlier in the day and allow extra time for their journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Translink<\/a> statement continued: \u201cSuspending services is always a last resort, but the safety of our customers and staff remains our top priority. We want to give people as much advance notice as possible so they can plan accordingly. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank our staff and customers for their continued support at this time. <\/p>\n
