4<\/p>\n Fernandes has faced criticism from ex-United captain Keane in recent weeksCredit: Getty<\/p>\n Fernandes<\/a> made history by becoming the first player\u00a0to provide 21 assists in a single top-flight campaign.<\/a><\/p>\n He broke the record on the final day of the season against Brighton, having equalled the previous best a week earlier in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, Red Devils great Keane took issue with Fernandes<\/a> after the game, where he questioned his mindset.<\/p>\n He claimed the Portugal midfielder had admitted to passing when he should have shot during the game, as he chased the league record.<\/p>\n Read more on talksport<\/p>\n But Fernandes then bit back in an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast, insisting Keane<\/a> had fabricated this quote.<\/p>\n The United midfielder said: “What I don’t like is when people lie about things and what you said about\u00a0Roy Keane –\u00a0basically what he said is a lie.”<\/p>\n ‘A lovely chat’<\/p>\n Weeks on from their initial spat, Keane and Fernandes appear to have buried the hatchet, as the Irishman revealed the pair have spoken.<\/p>\n Speaking on the Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast, Keane said that he and the 33-year-old had enjoyed a ‘lovely chat’.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cThere was a reaction to what we said after the podcast a few weeks ago, with what I said about Bruno Fernandes, and he reached out to me, wanted to chat.<\/p>\n “So I called him and we did have a lovely chat. It was a lovely chat.”<\/p>\n While Keane admitted he has no plans to address his comments with players on a more regular basis, he insisted he was pleased to clear the air with Fernandes.<\/p>\n The 54-year-old added: \u201cI like having boundaries with players as I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want to speak to them every few weeks.<\/p>\n \u201cBut every now and again, a player might reach out, so\u00a0I think it\u00a0was good that I spoke to Bruno because there was a lot reported and\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0a big player for United.<\/p>\n \u201cI like the idea of communicating, having a proper conversation.
