Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez’s name has reportedly found its way onto Jose Mourinho’s list of summer transfer targets for Turkish club Fenerbahce. With seven goals scored in all competitions this season the Uruguayan faces an uncertain time ahead at Anfield<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When Arne Slot<\/a> took over as head coach from Jurgen Klopp<\/a> between last season and the current one, Nunez<\/a> was off the back of a second year with Liverpool<\/a> that had seen marginal improvement on the goal contributions he had managed immediately following his initial \u00a364m, potentially rising to \u00a385m, arrival from Benfica.<\/p>\n

By all accounts the 25-year-old has suffered a drop-off, struggling to meet the changes brought about under a switch in management and it has left his future place in doubt.<\/p>\n

In this latest rumour, Fanatik<\/a> say Nunez is one of several strikers being looked at by Fenerbahce ahead of the summer window.<\/p>\n

Manager Mourinho<\/a> – formerly a key adversary of Liverpool’s in the dugouts of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur over the years – has made a habit of recruiting former Premier League<\/a> players and could follow suit again here by testing the Reds’ willingness to sell their No.9.<\/p>\n

But it must be noted that the Portuguese’s ‘top priority’ is named as Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, then Aleksandar Mitrovic is also listed.<\/p>\n

Still, if not the Turkish club then the report would suggest Nunez is not short of suitors.<\/p>\n

Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Milan, and Leipzig are all supposedly interested in what could potentially heat up into a full-on battle. Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal deserve mention too.<\/p>\n

As reported by the ECHO, representatives of the Gulf state contacted Liverpool in January over Nunez’s transfer<\/a> but were told it was not he time – Slot’s squad would be kept together amid a Premier League title push.<\/p>\n

The Reds are more likely to be receptive of talks this summer though, and Al-Hilal are expected to come back with an effort to complete a deal as soon as the window opens on June 1, so that they are able to register the striker in time for the FIFA Club World Cup.<\/p>\n
