Police have cordoned off part of Birmingham City Centre after a horror stabbing which has left the victim with life-threatening injuries. The victim, a man in his 20s, has been rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n
Police say a second man has sustained wounds to his hand. The incident took place in Centenary Square, a public square on the north side of Broad Street in Birmingham. The key square is used as a staging area for many of Birmingham’s main events including the Christmas Market, Arts Festivals and Remembrance Day Services.<\/p>\n
A large cordon is in place outside the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square, near the Repertory Theatre.<\/p>\n
A lorry appears to be at the centre of the scene. Anyone with information is being urged to contact the force.<\/p>\n
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We are currently at the scene of a stabbing in Centenary Square, Birmingham.”A man in his 20s has been taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening stab wounds.<\/p>\n
“A second man has sustained wounds to his hand.”A cordon is in place while we carry out enquiries.”Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting log 2914 of 11 June.”<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: We were called at 2.25pm to reports of a stabbing on Great Charles Street Queensway, Birmingham. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene.<\/p>\n
\u00a3Upon arrival we found a man who was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening.
