Biden looked at him. \u201cThank you for being here,\u201d he said. \u201cThank you for being here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know George,\u201d the assisting aide told the President, gently reminding him who was in front of him. \u201cYeah, yeah,\u201d the President said to one of the most recognizable men in the world, the host of this lucrative fund-raiser. \u201cThank you for being here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHi, Mr. President,\u201d Clooney said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow are ya?\u201d the President replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow was your trip?\u201d Clooney asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was fine,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n<p>It seemed clear that the President had not recognized Clooney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was not O.K.,\u201d recalled the Hollywood V.I.P. who had witnessed this moment. \u201cThat thing, the moment where you recognize someone you know\u2014especially a famous person who\u2019s doing a fucking fund-raiser for you\u2014it was delayed.
