Police have cordoned off a huge area outside a UK library after a horror double stabbing. Emergency services swarmed to the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square, adjacent to the Repertory Theatre.<\/p>\n

Footage reveals three police vehicles at the scene, all with sirens blaring. A lorry was seen within the cordon, which extends from the fountain area towards The Hall of Memory, reports Birmingham Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A University of Birmingham student, who chose not to be named, told BirminghamLive: \u201cI was at the library earlier but I didn\u2019t know anything of it was happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of a sudden my friends came over and were like, \u2018oh my god, have you seen outside?\u2019\u201d The student said it was \u201cworrying\u201d to find out a double stabbing had taken place. \u201cIn the centre of town is really worrying,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We are currently at the scene of a stabbing in Centenary Square, Birmingham. A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening stab wounds.<\/p>\n

“A second man has sustained wounds to his hand. A cordon is in place while we carry out enquiries.<\/p>\n

“Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting log 2914 of 11 June.”<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: We were called at 2.25pm to reports of a stabbing on Great Charles Street Queensway, Birmingham. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene.<\/p>\n

“Upon arrival we found a man who was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to hospital for further assessment.<\/p>\n
