Last week’s State of Play<\/a> event included the reveal of Stuntman: Hollywood<\/a> \u2014 the return of a series that hadn’t existed since the Xbox 360 era \u2014 and the first hands-on previews have been going live this week.<\/p>\n

For those who aren’t aware, Stuntman is a series where you drive fast vehicles in high-octane action sequences as a film director gives you instructions on what to do, and this latest entry is looking particularly ambitious!<\/p>\n

Here’s what the first previews are saying about Stuntman: Hollywood so far:<\/p>\n

Stuntman: Hollywood is nothing if not a brilliant use of intellectual property. The execution, based on playing Stuntman: Hollywood at Summer Game Fest this past week, is a little less exciting. But there’s a strong idea at the heart of Saber’s new Stuntman, and I hope they pull this trick off.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I\u2019ve come away from my brief time with Stuntman: Hollywood eager to play more. The gameplay on offer was a lot of fun, and I can absolutely see myself addicted to desperately trying to nail that perfect take. With a roster of great movie tie-ins, a clean and modern visual presentation and an engaging, arcade driving model, Stuntman fans are in for a real treat.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If you enjoy seeing classic movies in a video game or like a more objective-focused arcade racing game, Stuntman: Hollywood likely has something for you, although I need to see more before I\u2019m completely sold.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At the time of writing, Stuntman Hollywood doesn\u2019t have a release date, but after my short time with the game, I\u2019m convinced it\u2019s going to be worth the wait, however long that may be.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Stuntman: Hollywood admittedly comes with a bit of a steep learning curve. The physics are a lot more flowy than you\u2019d expect, and make sure you all knowledge of racing games out the door. Speed is not the goal here. But once I got the hang of how it all works, I became a lot more engaged with trying to flawlessly complete the challenges. We don\u2019t have a date on this quite yet, but I\u2019m eagerly looking forward to more.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As you can see, there’s some cautious optimism here from most of the outlets that have tried Stuntman: Hollywood so far, although Polygon in particular seems slightly concerned about the “execution” of the idea it’s going for.<\/p>\n

We don’t have any kind of release date for Stuntman: Hollywood yet though, so there’s loads of time for it to be polished further ahead of its eventual Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S release. We’re very excited for this one!<\/p>\n
