Newcastle United star Dan Burn has shrugged off the theft of England’s kit and insists he is ready to help the squad create a ‘brotherhood’ that could take them to World Cup glory – even if he doesn’t play a minute.<\/p>\n
England’s equipment was missing when a van arrived at their Swope Soccer Village base. It was feared they had got away with key kit including Harry Kane’s Skechers SKX 2 Elite boots marked “HK” alongside names of his children Ivy, Vivienne, Louis, and Henry plus a St George’s Cross.<\/p>\n
But insiders later disclosed the haul comprised spare footwear and other training equipment. The stolen footballs were said to be spares used mainly for charity signings and not the high-end versions used in training.<\/p>\n
Asked if he had lost any of his own possessions in the theft, Newcastle defender Burn told reporters: \u201cNo, not personally. We heard it from you guys, to be honest.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously it\u2019s with the police, so I don\u2019t know how much I can comment on it. But I\u2019ve got everything I need to train so I\u2019m not too worried about it.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest, it\u2019s not really been spoken about (by the FA) so I think that shows for us that they\u2019re not too worried about it as well. We\u2019re here to train, the first day out here, so it\u2019s not disrupted our preparation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Defending champions Argentina are also in town and Burn has cited the South Americans as an example of how to win a tournament through team spirit.<\/p>\n
Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel has spoken of creating a \u201cbrotherhood\u201d, with Jude Bellingham suggesting that was not there in Euro 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously it\u2019s hard for me to comment on what went on when I wasn\u2019t here,\u201d Burn said. \u201cBut we\u2019ve made a big thing about that since the very first camp we had together, about having this brotherhood and being together.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like a lot of the time the team that end up winning tournaments like these are the teams who are close. If you look at Argentina at the last World Cup, you felt as if they were really fighting for each other.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019re wanting to do. I think it\u2019s hard sometimes, you don\u2019t see each other for a long amount of time and you have quite superficial conversations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s normally just like, \u2018hi, how are you?\u2019. But it\u2019s about trying to get to know each other on a deeper level.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cSo, what the staff have created at the hotel we\u2019ve got now should help along with that. There\u2019s people that we\u2019ve played together with before which always helps so just keep trying to build on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Burn has been a staple of Tuchel\u2019s plans after being called up for the first time in the German\u2019s first squad in March 2025.<\/p>\n
His selection is widely understood to be as much about his presence in the dressing room as on the pitch. The 34-year-old is ready to help in any way he can, even if he does not get any minutes.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonally, for me, I just want to be here and help the team however possible that is, whether I start, whether I come on, whether I don\u2019t play a minute, I\u2019ll not feel I have contributed any less than anyone else,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that\u2019s important. I feel like this is the type of tournament where we have players who are the stars for their clubs normally, and they\u2019re going to have to take a little bit of a different role.<\/p>\n
