\u201cI think because of the views it had online, it was just decided that it needed to come down and something else put back in its place. All I know is that it was asked to be taken down.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is understood the wooden fence, which was put up in May, was installed to protect and separate the house from a parking area. But thousands took to social media to mock the fence on a local community page.<\/p>\n
One wrote: “Oh my goodness that is beyond stupid!” Another said: “This is ridiculous, surely the person who put that up must have questioned it? They must have some common sense.”<\/p>\n
Another said: “I would pull that right down. It sounds like daylight robbery to me!”<\/p>\n
It is understood that the house has been empty for seven months but Bristol City Council is now in the process of purchasing it and renovating the property. One neighbour said the previous fence was \u201cstupid\u201d.<\/p>\n

A black metal fence has been erected outside the property in Lockleaze<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI can\u2019t work it out and I\u2019m a builder. It blocks the windows out. I think everyone is confused.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some residents thought the installation was intended to prevent children falling in the gap between the car parking area and front of the house. \u201cI heard something about it being a danger to the children because there is a bit of a drop or something,\u201d the neighbour said. Another neighbour said they thought the fence was installed because of the \u201cdrop\u201d, adding it was \u201chealth and safety gone a bit mad\u201d.<\/p>\n
They said: \u201cI think it looked ridiculous. Whoever decided to do that, why? I just thought it was a bit silly and obviously common sense should come in at some point.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another resident said: \u201cI just wondered if that was intentional. I don\u2019t know who built it but I remember thinking \u2018that is a bit strange\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fence blocks off a drop<\/p>\n
Another neighbour said they thought the new metal railing looked \u201cmuch better\u201d. He said: \u201cI mean if there are new people in the house, they wouldn\u2019t be able to look out at anything would they? With that wood in front? No, this is much better.\u201d<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said: “We can confirm the property is owned by Bristol City Council. The fence was initially installed due to the significant drop between the drive and the side of the house \u2013 a barrier was therefore required for health and safety reasons.<\/p>\n
