In a written statement, Christodoulides called the move \u201ca step of substantive importance,\u201d highlighting the EU\u2019s commitment to resuming negotiations within its principles and legal framework.<\/p>\n<p>He credited the decision to coordinated diplomatic efforts and referenced EU Council conclusions from June 2023 and April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Hahn, a veteran EU official, will report directly to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
