Giovanni van Bronckhorst has landed a new job following his Liverpool exit<\/p>\n

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is set to become the new Feyenoord<\/a> manager just three days after his Liverpool<\/a> exit with another axed Reds coach poised to join him as his assistant in Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

Van Bronckhorst and Sipke Hulshoff were part of the fallout<\/a> from Arne Slot’s sacking and last week were moved on from Anfield as the Reds embark on their new era with Andoni Iraola at the helm.<\/p>\n

It hasn’t taken the pair long to find work and reports claim they will head back to their homeland with Van Bronckhorst being placed in charge of one of the giants of Dutch football. Hulshoff was Slot’s No.2 at Feyenoord and then followed him to Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Van Bronckhorst moved to Merseyside in the aftermath of them winning the Premier League<\/a>. He was hired to replace John Hetinga but couldn’t help the Reds’ demise as they finished fifth, which has resulted in several major personnel changes.<\/p>\n

Van Bronckhorst came through the Feyenoord ranks as a player before turning professional with his boyhood side in 1993. After retiring he would end up taking charge at the De Kuip Stadium 11 years ago. He would win the KNVB Cup in his first season and then followed that up 12 months later by delivering the club’s first Eredivisie title for 18 years.<\/p>\n

Since then the former Arsenal<\/a> player has taken charge at Rangers. He took the Ibrox outfit to the final of the Europa League<\/a> and more recently has been in charge as Besiktas. He endured a very short stint, however, and the Turkish side sacked him after just 20 games at the helm.<\/p>\n

Van Bronckhorst will ultimately replace Robin van Persie, who was shown the door by his former side only last week. The ex-Arsenal and Manchester United<\/a> striker was only handed one full season in Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

He guided Feyenoord to second, but they were never in the title race and finished 19 points behind champions PSV. Van Persie was criticised for constantly tinkering with his team. Feyenoord technical director Devy Rigaux was the man to show Van Persie the door.<\/p>\n

He explained his decision and said: “We conducted a thorough internal evaluation in which we looked at several factors, including the development of the team\u2019s performances and the downward trend in points collected, both in Europe and in the Eredivisie. The conclusion was that it would be better to start the new season with a new head coach.”<\/p>\n
