REUTERS\/Denis Balibouse\" decoding=\"sync\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tRemember Monday are representing the United Kingdom at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest (Picture: Reuters\/ Denis Balibouse)<\/p>\n<p>Since appearing on <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/the-voice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Voice<\/a> in 2019, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/remember-monday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Remember Monday<\/a> have amassed a supportive group of fans.<\/p>\n<p>Now, years later, they spoke to <strong>Metro <\/strong>and other media about what it\u2019s like to perform on one of the world\u2019s biggest stages, at the 2025 <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/eurovision-song-contest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eurovision Song Contest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The trio \u2013 Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele \u2013 first met in high <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/school\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">school<\/a> in Hampshire and used to ditch classes to work on music together.<\/p>\n<p>It was how the name for the group came about \u2013 with the girls reminding each other to \u2018remember Monday\u2019 as it was their day to rehearse.<\/p>\n<p>After years spent pursuing their dreams to perform together, in 2019 they decided to sign up for the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/itv\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITV<\/a> talent show \u2013 where they turned the chairs of will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs.<\/p>\n<p>They chose to be mentored by Jennifer, but were eventually sent home in the Knockout stages.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"888\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_250267971-0edd.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23077872\" alt=\"Handout photo of Remember Monday. Photo credit should read: BBC\/BBC Studios\/Rob Parfitt NOTE TO EDITORS: This picture must only be used to accompany PA Feature SHOWBIZ Music Eurovision\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tHolly-Anne Hull, Charlotte Steele and Lauren Byrne have been friends since high school (Picture: BBC Studios\/ Rob Parfitt)<\/p>\n<p>A few years after their TV stint the band were earlier this year <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/07\/eurovision-2025-uk-act-finally-confirmed-soaring-fame-voice-22678145\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced as the UK\u2019s act<\/a> for the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/eurovision-song-contest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eurovision Song Contest<\/a> \u2013 where they\u2019ll compete in Saturday\u2019s Grand Final <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/07\/uk-best-shot-winning-eurovision-since-sam-ryder-22686162\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with the song What The Hell Just Happened?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/05\/13\/latest-eurovision-2025-odds-ahead-tonights-semi-final-23079034\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ahead of their performance in Basel<\/a>, the trio shared how they were feeling leading into the final \u2013 where they\u2019ve already sailed through to due to <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/27\/uk-eurovision-entry-admit-were-not-looking-points-song-contest-22802484\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the UK being an automatic qualifier<\/a> as part of the Big 5.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/13\/friendless-uk-suffers-worst-news-ahead-eurovision-song-contest-2025-22722130\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the UK has largely struggled in recent years<\/a>, coming last in 2019 and 2021, second-to-last in 2023 and third from bottom in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In 2003 and 2021 the UK also received \u2018nul points\u2019 while last year Olly Alexander received 46 points from the jury but zero from the public vote.<\/p>\n<p>Remember Monday <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/27\/uk-eurovision-entry-admit-were-not-looking-points-song-contest-22802484\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously told Metro they \u2018weren\u2019t in Eurovision for the points\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although reviews of What The Hell Just Happened? have been largely positive, they\u2019ve faced critics who question if they\u2019ll be able to turn the UK\u2019s fortunes around.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_238567101-922e.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23077877\" alt=\"Editorial use only Mandatory Credit: Photo by Rachel Joseph\/ITV\/REX\/Shutterstock (10116252ap) Kieron Smith and Remember Monday [Charlotte Steele, Holly-Ann Hull and Lauren Byrne] perform. We can\u2019t be for everyone and that\u2019s fine,\u2019 Holly-Anne shared when speaking to Metro and other UK media soon after they arrived in the host city of Basel.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We built a following online and have had a few negative comments, but we turned them into something funny,\u2019 Charlotte shared as the girls spoke to press before their first rehearsal.<\/p>\n<p>However, Lauren said that while they have \u2018loved every minute to date\u2019, they are \u2018obviously nervous because it\u2019s a high-pressured performance\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I want us to be proud. Obviously we\u2019d love some good numbers to come up but that\u2019s not something we can control. We just want to be proud of what we do on stage,\u2019 Charlotte added.<\/p>\n<p>Before pursuing Remember Monday full-time, all of the girls had performed on The West End. We had the most amazing experiences,\u2019 Holly explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We didn\u2019t win it, but we feel like we did because we had an amazing mentor in Jennifer Hudson. We had the time to do the band every day. It was a great stepping stone.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>After The Voice, Charlotte returned to her job as a deputy head teacher, while Lauren and Holly-Anne starred in shows like Phantom of the Opera and Six: The Musical (Charlotte previously appeared in Mary Poppins on the West End too).<\/p>\n<p>The trio explained how they \u2018never wanted to put pressure on each other\u2019 to quit their jobs for the band, which is why it \u2018took us so many years\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We all had to get there in our own time,\u2019 Lauren shared.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"401\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_251243035-03ff.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23087415\" alt=\"2R8GCHX London, UK. We didn\u2019t think anyone would come, but it sold out in a day. We came onstage that night, and everyone knew every word to every song. That was definitely a moment.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>After opening for Billy Joel at BST Hyde Park in July 2023, that was \u2018the final piece in the puzzle\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If there were any doubts, it was gone in that moment. That first gig was in February and Billy was in July so we had that time to mull it over and so we decided to jump,\u2019 Charlotte added.<\/p>\n<p>That was 18 months ago. When asked to represent their country in Eurovision, the girls say sharing the news with their families was a highlight.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We\u2019ve had so many moments of setbacks and near misses and telling our parents we got this was something we\u2019d dreamed of for so many years,\u2019 Lauren said.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about whether they have what it takes to win Eurovision, the band admits: \u2018It\u2019s hard for us to imagine that. I absolutely think we have the ability to but who knows.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"486\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_243293273-d860.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23087349\" alt=\"Editorial use only Mandatory Credit: Photo by Ken McKay\/ITV\/Shutterstock (15187602j) Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, Charlotte Steele, Remember Monday 'Good Morning Britain' TV show, London, UK - 10 Mar 2025\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tThe band are hoping to get enough points to finish in the Top 10 (Picture: Ken McKay\/ ITV\/ Shutterstock)<\/p>\n<p>However, they went on to share they\u2019d love a Top 10 placing.<\/p>\n<p>Although more than half of all the Eurovision winners have been female solo artists, a girl band has never won, a record Remember Monday is working towards breaking.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of what happens though, Charlotte said it wouldn\u2019t change their friendship.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We\u2019re a band that have been together for 14 years now and we put our friendship first. I think that is our superpower \u2013 we really love each other and no matter what happens we will be solid at the end of it. We are buzzing this is an experience we get to do together.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Eurovision Song Contest continues until Saturday night, with the second semi-final on Thursday and the final on Saturday airing on the BBC.
