Not because there aren&#8217;t enough world-class drinking spots around the city, but because there are too many excellent options to choose from.\u00a0<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Giorgio Bargiani landscape - Lateef Photography_london-bars.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>Connaught Bar&#8217;s Giorgio Bargiani is Europe&#8217;s new favourite bartender<\/p>\n<p>To banish decision paralysis, 50 Best consulted Giorgio Bargiani \u2013 assistant director of mixology at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Connaught-Bar.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Connaught Bar<\/a>, and newly crowned winner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/bars\/best-in-europe\/awards\/bartenders-bartender.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Altos Bartenders&#8217; Bartender Award<\/a> as part of the inaugural edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/bars\/best-in-europe\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Europe&#8217;s 50 Best Bars<\/a> \u2013 for the inside track on where to drink in the cityl he calls home.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>For a top-tier neighbourhood bar: Amaro and Satan&#8217;s Whiskers<\/b><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Amaro Bar--3_london-bars.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>Amaro is a favoured hangout among West London&#8217;s off-duty bartenders<\/p>\n<p>Ask any Londoner to name their go-to local and you&#8217;ll get a different answer depending on their postcode. For Bargiani, whose work takes him across London, the choice comes down to which part of the city he happens to be in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In West London, I love <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Amaro.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amaro<\/a>, especially with a group of friends,&#8221; he says. On Kensington High Street, the bar has become a favourite among many of the city&#8217;s top bartenders \u2013 particularly its sizeable Italian contingent \u2013 thanks to its vintage spirits collection and unfussy drinks programme. But those in the know flock there for its weekly &#8216;Tirami-sundays&#8217;: an end-of-week ritual of excellent cocktails, tiramisu and good company. &#8220;I order a different cocktail every time I visit, but the Tirami-sunday is special,&#8221; says Bargiani.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Satans classics_london-bars.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"535\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>Satan&#8217;s Whiskers in Bethnal Green is renowned for its classics<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In East, it has to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Satans-Whiskers.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Satan&#8217;s Whiskers<\/a>,&#8221; he adds. A stalwart of London&#8217;s bar scene and frequent high-flier on The World&#8217;s 50 Best Bars rankings, Satan&#8217;s is often regarded as the gold standard for classic drinks in the capital. &#8220;I always go for a Golden Cadillac (cr\u00e8me de cacao, vanilla liqueur, orange juice, cream, bitters).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>For date nights: Dukes Bar\u00a0<\/b><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Dukes bar_london-bars.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>A martini at Dukes Bar should be on every cocktail-lover&#8217;s bucket list<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking to splash out on an unforgettable evening, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Dukes-Bar.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dukes Bar<\/a> is Bargiani&#8217;s go-to. One of London&#8217;s original cocktail destinations, the legendary St James&#8217;s institution has been serving drinks since 1908 and still offers a timeless glimpse into the city&#8217;s old-world glamour, with dark wood interiors, royal blue furnishings and impeccable service.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1985, the bar has been famed for its ice-cold direct martinis, invented by cocktail maestro Salvatore Calabrese. Limited to two per person, they&#8217;re the perfect prelude to one of those special evenings that seems to slip by in an instant, according to Bargiani: &#8220;at Dukes, you always know the reason you go, but you never remember when you leave.<\/p>\n<p><b>For the best bar snacks: Whiskey &amp; Seaweed<\/b><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Isle of Harris Scallop tartare_london-bars.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>Cocktails at Whiskey &amp; Seaweed come paired with dishes from the kitchen of Core by Clare Smyth<br \/>While London&#8217;s bar snack scene may not be as developed as its counterparts in the US or Asia, there are plenty of establishments dotted around the city that take their food seriously.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a little bougie, but I love <a href=\"https:\/\/corebyclaresmyth.com\/whiskeyandseaweed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Whiskey &amp; Seaweed<\/a>,&#8221; says Bargiani. Located within Notting Hill&#8217;s fine dining bastion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Core-by-Clare-Smyth.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Core by Clare Smyth<\/a>, Whiskey &amp; Seaweed opened in November 2023 as a standalone bar within the restaurant&#8217;s building, offering its own tasting menu experience and selection of drinks crafted by bar manager Vincenzo Ciaccio. &#8220;Great drinks and food made by Clare Smyth \u2013 what more could you want?&#8221; Bargiani exclaims. <\/p>\n<p><b>For something fresh: Waltz<\/b><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/White Asparagus Fresh Peas_london-bars.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>Waltz&#8217;s cocktail list is inspired by the 72 micro seasons of Japan<\/p>\n<p>Since opening in Shoreditch in mid-2025,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/waltzbar.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Waltz<\/a> has become the talk of the town, dancing its way to the top of London&#8217;s cocktail scene with a unique perspective on Japanese micro seasonality paired with a killer hi-fi sound system, orchestrated by veteran bartender Gento Torigata.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The cocktails from Gento [Torigata] change all the time throughout the year, so I&#8217;ll always order the highball of the season,&#8221; explains Bargiani. &#8220;I&#8217;m also a big fan of Japanese whisky, and it has one of the best collections in the city.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>For going &#8216;out&#8217; out: Viajante87, Experimental Cocktail Club, Stereo<\/b><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Viajante87-cocktail_W50BB24-LIP.jpg\" alt=\"Viajante87-cocktail_W50BB24-LIP\"\/><br \/>Start your London bar crawl at Notting Hill&#8217;s Viajante87<\/p>\n<p>London&#8217;s size means planning a bar tour requires serious thought, care and planning. Luckily, Bargiani has done the work for us. &#8220;My ideal night out comes in three steps,&#8221; he says.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ll start my night at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Viajante87.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Viajante87<\/a> (No.99 among The World&#8217;s 50 Best Bars 2024) in Notting Hill. I&#8217;ll then move into central London with a few drinks at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.experimentalcocktailclub.com\/london\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Experimental Cocktail Club<\/a> in Chinatown, before finishing the journey at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stereocoventgarden.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stereo<\/a> in Covent Garden for great live music.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>For an underrated gem: Twice Shy<\/b><\/p>\n<p>While many brilliant bars can be found in the city centre, there are just as many brilliant bars in unsuspecting neighbourhoods that tend to fall under the radar. For Bargiani,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/twiceshy_bar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Twice Shy<\/a> in Earl&#8217;s Court ticks that box.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A short stroll from Earl&#8217;s Court station down a narrow pedestrian passage, the sleek spot \u2013 and sibling venue to Amaro \u2013 is a quietly cherished enclave, loved for its pared back list of supercharged classics, including a blue cheese and olive oil-imbued martini, as well as its fan-favourite mortadella focaccia. &#8220;It&#8217;s cheap, it&#8217;s great and it&#8217;s the kind of bar I can go to for every kind of occasion,&#8221; says Bargiani.<\/p>\n<p><b>For dinner with great drinks: Legado<\/b><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/New-Restaurant-Openings-Legado.jpg\" alt=\"New-Restaurant-Openings-Legado\"\/><br \/>Legado is one of London&#8217;s hottest new restaurant openings<\/p>\n<p>After something more substantial to soak it all up? Many London restaurants now place as much care into their cocktail lists as their dishes.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.legadorestaurants.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Legado<\/a>, a new space in Shoreditch from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Sabor.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sabor<\/a>&#8216;s chef-director Nieves Barrag\u00e1n, opened in mid-2025, serving regional Spanish dishes in a stunning, open-plan space.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alongside expectedly good wine, vermouth and sherry lists, Legado pours a punchy selection of six cocktails, including a romesco sauce-infused martini. &#8220;Everything about Legado is super cool. I love the atmosphere there and they have a great drinks selection that pairs very well with the dishes they offer,&#8221; says Bargiani.<\/p>\n<p><b>For something different: Kw\u00e3nt Mayfair<\/b><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/kwant mayfair interior_london-bars.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>Order a ramos gin fizz at Kw\u00e3nt Mayfair<\/p>\n<p>On edge of Green Park, just moments from the Connaught Bar, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/Kw%C4%81nt-Mayfair.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kw\u00e3nt Mayfair<\/a> is the brainchild of Eric Lorincz, former head bartender of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/discovery\/Establishments\/UK\/London\/American-Bar.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">American Bar at The Savoy<\/a> (The World&#8217;s Best Bar 2017).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inside the warm, tropical-themed lounge, the menu leans into highly creative, technique-forward concoctions, with its ramos gin fizz variants earning a cult-like following. &#8220;I think that the drinks that Erik [Lorincz] creates are always unique, and whatever he does is always exciting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>The inaugural list of <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/bars\/best-in-europe\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Europe&#8217;s 50 Best Bars<\/b><\/a><b> will be revealed at a live awards ceremony in Amsterdam on 30 June 2026.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"From sultry date spots to great neighbourhood hangs, here&#8217;s where the expert recommends.
