Angry MP Dr Scott Arthur has urged the Scottish Government to legislate now after a women was in collision with two e-scooters in Edinburgh\u2019s city centre.<\/p>\n
Police have now appealed for witnesses to the incident just after 2pm in St Patrick Square.<\/p>\n
They confirmed that the women has been taken to hospital and the two e-scooters involved left the scene.<\/p>\n
Dr Arthur posted on social media of his concern and added: \u201cI\u2019ve spoken many times about the growing impact of illegally used e-scooters and e-bikes on communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s becoming more common, more dangerous, and more frustrating for residents. Enough is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n
He wants the Scottish Government to give Police Scotland the powers and resources they need to properly tackle this issue.<\/p>\n
Dr Arthur, the Westminster MP for Edinburgh South West, said: \u201cMy office is pushing the UK Government to go further in restricting the import, sale, of illegal e-bikes, e-scooters, and modification kits.<\/p>\n
\u201cQuite frankly, it\u2019s outrageous that shops are allowed to sell these devices knowing full well that, outside of private land, there is no legal place to use them in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis situation is unfair on communities, unsafe for pedestrians, and unsustainable. We need action, and we need it now.\u201d<\/p>\n
