\n\tFor the first time in 16 years, Shrek and Donkey are setting out on a new adventure. And now, thanks to a just-released teaser trailer, we\u2019re getting a sense of what that adventure will entail.<\/p>\n
\n\tPlot points for Shrek 5<\/a> have been kept quiet, but the teaser indicates the film involves Shrek, Donkey and Shrek\u2019s family \u2014 which includes two sons and a daughter \u2014 \u201cgoing on a journey to \u201coff on another whirlwind big-city adventure,\u201d according to Donkey.<\/p>\n \n\tZendaya plays the daughter of Shrek (Mike Myers) and Fiona (Cameron Diaz). Eddie Murphy, who voices Donkey, will reprise his role.\u00a0Saturday Night Live\u2018s\u00a0Marcello Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Superman\u2018s\u00a0Skyler Gisondo<\/a>\u00a0will voice the ogre couple\u2019s sons, Fergus and Farkle.<\/p>\n \n\tNeedless to say, the trip does not go as planned, and the group \u2014 minus Zendaya\u2019s character \u2014 ends up in jail listening to Donkey bray away.<\/p>\n \n\tThere\u2019s also a quick jab at Disney\u2019s Frozen.<\/p>\n \n\tWatch the teaser below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n\tSlated for release on December 23, 2026,\u00a0Shrek 5\u00a0will be the first installment to hit theaters since\u00a0Shrek Forever After\u00a0all the way back in 2010.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tWalt Dohrn (Trolls\u00a0franchise), who worked on the second and third films as a writer and artist and as Head of Story on the fourth film, is directing alongside co-director Brad Ableson (Minions: The Rise of Gru), with\u00a0The Trolls\u00a0franchise\u2019s Gina Shay returning to produce alongside Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri (The Super Mario Bros.
