Richard Herring<\/a> has shared that he has been diagnosed with cancer<\/a> a second time, describing it as \u2018incurable\u2019 this time.<\/p>\n The comedian and Taskmaster<\/a> victor shared the news in his Substack, detailing how he has blood cancer rather than testicular cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2021.<\/p>\n Explaining the diagnosis, he wrote: \u2018I have cancer again. Not ball cancer this time, I can\u2019t afford to lose another one of those (though I will be doing my show The Male Eunuch if it does happen).\u2019<\/p>\n The 58-year-old went on: \u2018This time I have blood cancer. And God is determined to make sure I get the funniest cancers possible and this one is called hairy cell leukaemia. <\/p>\n \u2018The other bad news is that it is incurable.<\/p>\n However, he said that the cancer is treatable and \u2018will not kill him\u2019, adding in parentheses: \u2018The treatment has a tiny chance of killing me, but so has loading the dishwasher, so don\u2019t worry about it.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t He continued: \u2018I will of course be using the fact that I have incurable cancer for all it\u2019s worth for the rest of my (hopefully long) life. <\/p>\n \u2018I can get out of doing other people\u2019s podcasts, any social event I don\u2019t fancy and also set up a JustGiving page with me with a sad face, hugging my kids and asking for money to help them once I\u2019m gone.<\/p>\n \u2018Ha ha ha. It\u2019s not even a scam. It\u2019s all true. I just won\u2019t mention that fact that it\u2019s treatable.\u2019<\/p>\n Herring went on to detail his diagnosis, explaining that it took several years in this instance.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tWhat is hairy cell leukaemia?\t\t\t<\/p>\n This rare type of chronic leukaemia gets its name from the hair-like growths on the cells, which can be seen under a microscope.<\/p>\n Symptoms can include tiredness and breathlessness, bruising easily, abdominal pain and weight loss.<\/p>\n More than 90 per cent of people in England will survive this leukaemia for five years or more after being diagnosed, according to Cancer Research.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018They found a few of the cells in my bone marrow about 12 years ago, but it didn\u2019t get any worse and after five years of being tested, the doctor said it was probably going to be OK,\u2019 he wrote<\/p>\n The comedian went on to say that he had \u2018sort of forgotten about it\u2019 in the time since.<\/p>\n He then detailed his first day of chemotherapy under the august treatment of the NHS, assuring fans there \u2018were no immediate problems\u2019.<\/p>\n Herring won the tenth series of Taskmaster in 2020 and then returned two years later to compete in Champion of Champions special, which he also won.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow Arrow![\"Editorial](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/SEI_283334080-99bf.jpg\")
