The minds behind the latest Final Destination film have revealed that they spent years brainstorming what they can \u2018ruin for people\u2019 before plotting the sequel.<\/p>\n

After what feels like years of waiting, the newest instalment of the horror movie franchise<\/a> has finally been released in cinemas, with Death hunting an entire family while unlocking a fresh batch of fears for fans.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s fair to say that the first five flicks have made us all think twice about driving behind a logging truck, getting a tan, undergoing laser eye surgery or driving over a bridge ever again.<\/p>\n

Without giving too much away, Final Destination: Bloodlines has given us even more to fear<\/a> \u2013 including a shard of glass hidden in an ice tray, overhead fans in piercing shops and even bin trucks.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Metro <\/strong>ahead of the release, directors Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky shed light on how they plotted those \u2018staggeringly grisly\u2019, intricate death scenes<\/a>, sparked from random freak occurrences.<\/p>\n

\u2018From the very beginning, we call it, \u201cWhat can we ruin for people?\u201d so that after you see this movie, for the rest of your life, you\u2019ll never be able to look at a cup filled with ice in the same way, or a garbage disposal truck, or hear the song Shout without thinking of this movie,\u2019 Adam teased.<\/p>\n

\u2018That was a big conversation. I think that\u2019s the legacy of Final Destination, that it takes potential anxieties and brings them to life in a way that ruins them for people forever.<\/p>\n

\u2018We always wanted to create a movie that you had to watch through your fingers, but while you were also smiling. Getting that tone balance right was very tricky.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018We started from that place of, \u201cWhat can we ruin for people?\u201d And then we just brainstorm and brainstormed over years. It\u2019s an iterative process,\u2019 he continued.<\/p>\n

\u2018We knew, for example, that we wanted to have a shard of glass in a cup full of ice, because it reminded us of the screw on the balance beam in FD Five. It\u2019s just a small thing that gives you that sense of cringe, and puts you in suspense of what\u2019s going to happen next.<\/p>\n

\u2018But what happens after that glass is in the cup took a lot of rounds of brainstorming with the team, because we wanted it, like I said before, to not be predictable.<\/p>\n

\u2018We couldn\u2019t just have someone swallow the glass \u2013 that would be too predictable. So how can we then use the glass in a different way that you never expected?\u2019<\/p>\n

No spoilers but, if you\u2019re planning a summer of garden parties with your loved ones, maybe ban ice cubes, and pack away the lawnmower before your guests come over\u2026<\/p>\n

The first Final Destination movie hit the big screen more than two decades ago, following teenager Alex Browning as he has a premonition on board a flight to Paris, and scrambles to get his classmates off the plane.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this messes up Death\u2019s preparations and those who managed to disembark find themselves dying in eerie circumstances to return to the original \u2018plan\u2019.<\/p>\n

Since the release of the original in 2000<\/a>, cinemagoers have been scared silly by a further four movies, with Bloodlines serving as the sixth instalment of the franchise.<\/p>\n

Shedding light on any possible links to the previous movies, and any call backs to expect, Zach told us: \u2018There are countless Easter eggs in the movie.<\/p>\n

\u2018Even some that we\u2019re still discovering, because we told the crew to put in as many as they could without telling us. There are tiny ones as small as certain license plates or certain things that you see in the movie.<\/p>\n

\u2018My favorite is that there\u2019s a scene in a hospital near the end of the film, where a character who is covered in tattoos dies horribly, and as his shirt is lifted, you see that he has a big skull on his chest.<\/p>\n

\u2018All these bits of metal come piercing out through his body, and it is to mirror exactly the poster from FD Five, which had a skull with all this rebar coming through its eyes.<\/p>\n

\u2018His body is pierced with his skull in exactly the same way, which was my favorite Easter egg in the film.\u2019<\/p>\n

Well, we can now add hospitals to the list of things that have been \u2018ruined\u2019\u2026<\/p>\n

Final Destination: Bloodlines is out in cinemas now.<\/strong><\/p>\n
