Wright, chief of the <a href=\"https:\/\/newlondonct.gov\/police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New London Police Department<\/a>. Wright said he was arrested with assistance from the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshal Service.<\/p>\n<p>Zeigler has been charged in connection with a shooting on March 18 in the area of 22 Moore Ave. where officers responded at 6:18 p.m. on the report of gunshots and a man possibly being shot. Police found that a man had been shot in the torso, Wright said.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, 20-year-old Avery Rivera of Ledyard, was tended to by officers at the scene and taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Wright. Wright said the shooting did not appear to be random.<\/p>\n<p>Zeigler faces charges of murder, carrying a pistol without permit, unlawful discharge of firearm and tampering with physical evidence.
