\nagain for\u00a0agreeing to\u00a0join us here in\u00a0Kazan for\u00a0the\u00a0summit marking the\u00a035th
\nanniversary of\u00a0Russia-ASEAN relations\u00a0\u2013 which I\u00a0believe has been a\u00a0highly
\nsuccessful and\u00a0productive gathering. We attach great importance to\u00a0strengthening our ties with ASEAN member states.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0have fond memories of\u00a0my\u00a0visit to\u00a0Singapore,
\nwhich, besides bilateral agenda, included my\u00a0participation in\u00a0the\u00a0third Russia\u00a0\u2013
\nASEAN Summit, and\u00a0it was back then that we proclaimed the\u00a0strategic partnership
\nof\u00a0Russia and\u00a0ASEAN. I\u00a0would like to\u00a0thank you for\u00a0the\u00a0fact that Singapore became
\nthe\u00a0place and\u00a0the\u00a0country where this event took place. May I\u00a0also wish you
\nevery success with your forthcoming ASEAN Chairmanship next year.<\/p>\n
Our countries cooperate not only within this
\nframework but also across other international platforms, not least the\u00a0United
\nNations. Russia-Singapore relations have traditionally been characterised by\u00a0mutual respect and\u00a0pragmatism, and\u00a0we maintain constructive dialogue on\u00a0issues
\nof\u00a0shared interest.<\/p>\n
Contacts are also maintained between our
\nforeign ministries. We are coordinating our approaches to\u00a0common challenges and\u00a0threats, particularly in\u00a0the\u00a0field of\u00a0international information security. This
\nis an\u00a0area where we have much to\u00a0offer one another. As\u00a0I\u00a0have noted, your
\ncountry is actively engaged on\u00a0this front and\u00a0has shown genuine interest,
\nrecognising it as\u00a0one of\u00a0the\u00a0most serious threats facing the\u00a0modern world.<\/p>\n
Considerable potential remains untapped in\u00a0the\u00a0economic sphere\u00a0\u2013 in\u00a0part due to\u00a0the\u00a0restrictions currently in\u00a0place.
\nNevertheless, channels for\u00a0business dialogue remain open. The\u00a0most recent session
\nof\u00a0the\u00a0Russia\u2013Singapore Business Dialogue was held in\u00a0Singapore this past
\nApril. We welcome the\u00a0participation of\u00a0Singapore\u2019s delegation in\u00a0the\u00a029th
\nSt Petersburg International Economic Forum, and\u00a0we look forward to\u00a0seeing your
\nrepresentatives at\u00a0other multilateral events hosted by\u00a0Russia\u00a0\u2013 including,
\nincidentally, the\u00a0Eastern Economic Forum, which we will be holding shortly in\u00a0Vladivostok.<\/p>\n
We also attach great significance to\u00a0expanding
\npeople-to-people ties and\u00a0deepening cooperation in\u00a0education and\u00a0culture.<\/p>\n
Today\u2019s meeting affords us an\u00a0excellent
\nopportunity for\u00a0an\u00a0in-depth exchange of\u00a0views on\u00a0the\u00a0current state of\u00a0and\u00a0future prospects for\u00a0our bilateral relations.<\/p>\n
Let me stress again that we are truly delighted
\nto\u00a0have you here. I\u00a0am confident that our discussions\u00a0\u2013 both yesterday\u2019s and\u00a0today\u2019s\u00a0\u2013 will make a\u00a0meaningful contribution to\u00a0the\u00a0further development of\u00a0our

Singapore

\nengagement with ASEAN. We look forward to\u00a0working closely with Russia to\u00a0identify practical areas for\u00a0cooperation with ASEAN when we take over as\u00a0Chair
\nof\u00a0ASEAN next year.<\/p>\n
Bilaterally, our
\ntwo countries\u00a0\u2013 as, Mr President, you highlighted just now\u00a0\u2013 have longstanding
\nrelations marked by\u00a0mutual respect, pragmatism, and\u00a0constructive cooperation.
\nSingapore values our relations with Russia, with the\u00a0Government of\u00a0Russia, and\u00a0with its people.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0had a\u00a0very
\ngood meeting earlier\u00a0\u2013 just now\u00a0\u2013 with the\u00a0Rais of\u00a0Tatarstan and\u00a0his team. We
\nhave very good ties with Tatarstan, we want to\u00a0continue building on\u00a0relations we
\nhave with other parts of\u00a0Russia as\u00a0well. I\u00a0look forward to\u00a0this discussion
