(zhudifeng\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Taiwan\u2019s Ministry of Health and Welfare is seeking comment on a new regulation that would clarify the distinction between \u201cfood\u201d and \u201cmedicine\u201d in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) products while preserving the country\u2019s long-standing food culture around herbal ingredients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Under the proposed framework, certain herbs with long-standing culinary use would remain permitted in food products, however, regulators plan to introduce requirements for dosage levels, concentration and labeling practices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">The proposal, first published in April, would expand and formalize the list of Chinese medicinal materials permitted in food products and divides 148 approved TCM ingredients into two categories. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Double-edged-sword-Supplement-firms-need-to-be-wary-of-China-s-new-livestreaming-regulations.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/RTHKB2E2VFLOZFFKQBMJ5NQMNE.png\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The China Advertising Association has implemented the \u201cInternet Livestreaming Marketing Behaviour Standards\u201d from Jul 1. \u00a9 Getty Images <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">China\u2019s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) is pushing livestream commerce platforms to take greater responsibility for health food advertising as more consumers turn to these channels for purchases. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">A fresh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samr.gov.cn\/hd\/zjdc\/art\/2026\/art_2a99498546434468b1fada4203fdc7ce.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.samr.gov.cn\/hd\/zjdc\/art\/2026\/art_2a99498546434468b1fada4203fdc7ce.html\">set of proposed regulations<\/a> seeks to tighten control over how pharmaceuticals, medical devices, health foods and foods for special medical purposes can be advertised and how ads are reviewed prior to publication.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Where violations are identified, platforms would be required to issue warnings, restrict traffic, suspend livestreaming activity and maintain records of offending parties. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"A toddler girl drinking milk.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/X24V3CZ3I5AC7B4SEQSPWMRD6M.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>A toddler milk or young children formula is meant for kids between one and three years old, based on the requirements set by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).
