{"id":10369,"date":"2025-04-11T09:04:07","date_gmt":"2025-04-11T09:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/10369\/"},"modified":"2025-04-11T09:04:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-11T09:04:07","slug":"china-ramps-up-us-tariffs-to-125-percent-in-new-salvo-against-trump-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/10369\/","title":{"rendered":"China ramps up US tariffs to 125 percent in new salvo against Trump \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China on Friday escalated tariffs on imports from the United States to 125 percent, in response to U.S. President Donald Trump&#8217;s punishing regime against Chinese goods. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gss.mof.gov.cn\/gzdt\/zhengcejiedu\/202504\/t20250411_3961824.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beijing&#8217;s finance ministry said<\/a> that the U.S. was threatening to become a laughing stock as it jacked up tariffs on Chinese goods higher and higher to 145 percent earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even if the US continues to impose higher tariffs, it will no longer make economic sense and will become a joke in the history of world economy,&#8221; the finance ministry said. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the current tariff level, there is no market acceptance for U.S. goods exported to China,&#8221; Beijing economic mandarins added. &#8220;If the U.S. continues to play the tariff numbers game, China will ignore it.
