LONDON, June 19 (Reuters) – British Transport Police said on Friday it was responding to reports of a collision \u200cinvolving two trains about 60 miles (100 km) north of \u200cLondon, with the health minister confirming there were multiple injuries.<\/p>\n
A video posted \u200bon social media by one of the passengers showed what appeared to be the front of one train entangled with the back of another.<\/p>\n
The East of England Ambulance Service said it had \u200csent multiple resources, \u2060including an air ambulance, to the collision on the railway south of Bedford, and urged people \u2060to avoid the area.<\/p>\n
Health minister James Murray said he was being kept updated on the collision, while transport minister Heidi Alexander \u200bsaid she \u200bwas “deeply concerned” by the incident.<\/p>\n
Bedfordshire \u200bFire and Rescue Service said \u200cits crews were present on the railway just south of Bedford.<\/p>\n
Peter Knapp, a doctor who said on social media site Bluesky he was on board one of the trains, described a “sudden crash” with one carriage off the rails and said \u200che had sustained minor injuries.<\/p>\n
Sky News \u200bcited him as telling the Press \u200bAssociation that some passengers \u200bwere unable to speak and had injuries including \u200cbroken legs.<\/p>\n
Train operator East Midlands Railway \u200bsaid it \u200bwas unable to run services in or out of London for the rest of the day, while Thameslink said \u200ball lines between \u200cLuton and Bedford were blocked due to a problem \u200bunder investigation.<\/p>\n
