A petition against the proposed location of Frimley Park Hospital’s \u00a31.8 billion rebuild has amassed tens of thousand of signees as the NHS<\/a> has formerly announced its preferred site for the development.<\/p>\n

The ‘Protect the Frimley<\/a> Fuel Allotments from development’ petition was launched by the Heatherside Residents Association in December 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The petition was launched prior to any formal announcement from the Frimley Health NHS Trust in regards to the rebuild of its hospital, which it received \u00a31.5 billion from the Government for in August 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite no formal confirmation at the time, speculation spread widely<\/a> that the NHS Trust would be choosing the site of Pine Ridge Golf Club in the Frimley Fuel Allotments as the site of its new 800-bed hospital.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, June 16, the Frimley Health NHS Trust announced that it would in fact be the golf club site near the Heatherside neighbourhood that it intends to build the hospital. The news was met with clear objection from the public and local politicians, with the area’s MP saying it was “the wrong site, in the wrong place”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The news has led the Heatherside Residents Association’s petition to experience another rise in signees. In less than a week around a thousand people have signed it, signalling their support for the protection of Frimley Fuel Allotments.<\/p>\n

Many also took to the petition’s comments to express their opposition to the proposals in writing. One resident, Christine, commented:<\/p>\n

“Our son and family bought a house opposite the woods as they enjoy the open space to walk their dog and for their children to play. In an age where people are being encouraged to use their open spaces now you propose to build a hospital.<\/p>\n

“The children go to school locally and the Old Bisley Road is always busy with through traffic and some parents need to park to collect them from school. I trust these issues will be considered.”<\/p>\n

Another signee, Janet, commented on the petition: “It is so wrong to even consider using this land for building a hospital or for more housing. This area is enjoyed by so many people, my grandson being one of them, who likes to play golf there with his dad and brother.<\/p>\n

“I am also horrified that such a development would cause more traffic and emergency vehicles to pass by several schools, one being Tomlinscote, where my grandson attends, which would be very dangerous for the pupils when starting and finishing school. So please just leave this beautiful area alone.”<\/p>\n

The Frimley Fuel Allotments are a large 265 acre green landscape widely used by residents of Frimley, Deepcut, Heatherside and beyond. It is also said to be a site rich with wildlife, being one of the last surviving parts of the historic Frimley Common.<\/p>\n

The Fuel Allotments were enclosed nearly 200 years ago specifically for the benefit of the poor of Frimley. The allotments are operated by a charity of the same name, who generate income the Pine Ridge Golf Course lease. Under the NHS Trust’s proposals, the charity would sell this 55 acres of the golf course land to the Trust for the hospital development.<\/p>\n

Highlighting this sentiment, another commenter, Steve said: “(I have) happy memories wandering this woodland with my grandchildren. There is little enough of this left and we cannot afford to destroy it when brown field sites could be used instead.”<\/p>\n

Another petition signee, Laura, commented: “I spent my childhood in the 80s and 90s exploring the fuel allotments with my family. Long Sunday walks rambling through the woods to the ‘magic stones’ and back, passing the badger sett, stopping to listen to birdsong and pick pine cones.<\/p>\n

“I remember the aftermath of the great storm in ’88 and my mum’s sadness at the devastation of fallen trees, then watching the forest bounce back. I remember orienteering PE lessons at school in the woods and hanging out there as a teenager with my friends, sheltering under makeshift dens.<\/p>\n

“Children today need green spaces more than ever. In fact, studies show that we all need them for our mental wellbeing. Please, please don’t build on the woods.<\/p>\n

“Don’t destroy valuable habitat for dwindling native species. Don’t ruin my childhood memories or those of future local children. We’ve got to fight for precious green spaces because once they are gone, they are gone forever. And that’s a huge loss.”<\/p>\n

Another resident, Kieron, expressed his clear objections: “I am deeply concerned about the proposal to move Frimley Hospital to Pine Ridge Golf Course in Camberley<\/a>. This isn\u2019t just about changing locations\u2014it\u2019s about ensuring local residents continue to have access to healthcare that is practical, accessible, and designed around the needs of the community.<\/p>\n

“Before such a major decision is made, I believe all concerns should be properly considered, including the impact on travel times, local infrastructure, the environment, and the long-term effect on patients, staff, and residents. I drive past Tomlinscote and Ravenscote schools every day, and during the school run the traffic is already a nightmare.<\/p>\n

“Adding a major hospital to a route served by a single-lane road is likely to place significant additional pressure on the local road network. It could make commuting more difficult for local residents, increase delays for parents dropping off and collecting their children, and raise important questions about whether the surrounding infrastructure is capable of supporting such a large development.”<\/p>\n

The Frimley Health NHS Trust has not yet submitted a formal planning application for the hospital development in the Frimley Fuel Allotments. Therefore, its current proposals could change.<\/p>\n

The Trust announced this week it will be working in partnership with Thames Valley Integrated Care Board (ICB) to launch a programme of public engagement.
