In July he has his fifth bout as he competes for the Haynes Promotions title at 75kg with his fifteen-year-old son Tyler making his ring debut the same evening.

“I’m thrilled at the opportunity and delighted that Tyler getting his first fight experience the same evening,” said Danny, now 36. “Father and son on the same show. That’s a first for the promotion apparently. I started training to do something new and improve my fitness, maybe set some goals. Once I attended my first show I was hooked. This title fight is my fifth bout in just a year, and I plan to remain undefeated. It’ll also be my longest contest yet at four two-minute rounds and although I get nervous the days before on fight day, I’ve always felt confident and buoyed up by supporters shouting my name as I enter the ring keen to have fun doing the business.”

“I want to stay humble about my success so far and take each fight as it comes. This sport has helped me improve mentally and physically and be a better, more positive role model for my three children. I’ve made rapid progress and was proud to get our club’s ‘most improved boxer’ award in 2025. I’ve stopped my previous four opponents before the bell. This title bout sees me box Andy Webster from Burnley. I’m confident that together we’ll put on a show. The truth is I want tougher opponents. Leaving the ring victorious but with a bust nose or a cut above the eye confirms that is exactly where I belong.”

Danny’s son Tyler isn’t continuing with competitive football. “I wanted a new activity and seeing how boxing has been great for my dad I decided to give it a go. I’m just so very proud that my dad is a semi-professional boxer. He’s just what every boy wants his dad to be and he’s, my dad. My bout is a skills bout which allows a novice boxer like me to show what skills I’ve learnt without anxiety over the result. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it and it won’t be too long before I’m having decision bouts and following the family tradition of getting the win. I’m about the youngest person at the club and it’s great to be making new friends.”

“Everyone’s been impressed with Danny who always shows great heart, courage and determination and now deserves his shot at our promotion’s title,” said Tristan Haynes. “He typifies the kind of boxer our shows exist to promote as we offer talented fighters from across the region the opportunity to prove they belong in semi-professional unlicensed boxing. We’re also keen to welcome Tyler starting out as a boxer. I’m confident the July show will be a sell-out as Danny and all our boxers demonstrate just how entertaining and exhilarating boxing is.”

If interested in training with Haynes and Miller or attending the show at The Angler’s Club in Burmantofts on 11 July 2026 contact Tristan Haynes on Facebook or e-mail thpaintersanddecorators@gmail.com.
