A charity has blasted ‘despicable’ thieves who broke into and ransacked a Birmingham<\/a> shop.<\/p>\n

The criminals caused thousands of pounds worth of damage after they smashed into the Headway store on Harborne<\/a> High Street on June 16.<\/p>\n

They rummaged through the shop and grabbed a laptop and donation tin.<\/p>\n

The charity, which helps people rebuild their lives following brain injury, said the front door was considerably damaged.<\/p>\n

Now charity staff estimate the cost to replace the laptop and glass front door will cost in the region of \u00a33000.<\/p>\n

They also lost a day’s takings after they closed the next day for the clear-up operation.<\/p>\n

David Byrne, Head of Retail at Headway UK<\/a>, said: \u201cWe are all absolutely devastated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were forced to close the store on Tuesday and have also lost a days trading on Wednesday as well.<\/p>\n

“It was distressing to our team, who work really hard to make the shop a welcoming space, with each sale powering vital services to support brain injury survivors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re gutted to have had our laptop stolen, which helps us process stock and inventory.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is difficult to believe that someone could be so cruel as to vandalise and steal from a charity shop.\u201d<\/p>\n
