{"id":1041688,"date":"2026-06-21T22:56:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T22:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1041688\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T22:56:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T22:56:59","slug":"turkish-artist-refik-anadol-opens-ai-rainforest-museum-in-la","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1041688\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish artist Refik Anadol opens AI rainforest museum in LA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The squawks of macaws, the smell of wet earth after rain and a swirl of colors will transport visitors from a Los Angeles museum to the heart of the Amazon rainforest \u2013 or rather, an AI version of it.<\/p>\n<p>Data collected from those visitors \u2013 their movements, their heartbeats and even the temperature of their skin \u2013 will feed the computer that is creating the immersive display, using a network of sensors, including those on the wrists of ticket-holders.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Machine Dreams: Rainforest&#8221; is the inaugural exhibition at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysabah.com\/arts\/are-we-going-camping-in-refik-anadols-museum-now\/news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dataland<\/a>, a new museum in the heart of America\u2019s second biggest city, founded by Turkish media artist and designer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysabah.com\/arts\/refik-anadol-digital-voyage-between-tradition-transformation\/news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Refik Anadol<\/a> and Efsun Erk\u0131l\u0131\u00e7, whose 10 million lines of code power the animations \u2013 using 1.5 billion pixels.<\/p>\n<p>                    <a data-fancybox=\"gallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/446803.jpg\" data-caption=\"A person walks through immersive visualizations from the inaugural exhibition Machine Dreams: Rainforest are projected at DATALAND, the Museum of AI Arts, Los Angeles, U.S., June 9, 2026. (AFP Photo) <\/p>\n<p>Anadol said he was inspired by a visit to the Brazilian Amazon, a place he thinks everyone should experience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But I do not believe we should all go to the rainforest,&#8221; he told Agence France-Presse (AFP).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The question was: can the rainforest come to us? Can we still connect, feel special, respect and love nature, learn about it?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wall-mounted sensors will track visitors&#8217; movements, and guests will wear a medical-grade, watch-like device to monitor their emotions and heart rate for interacting with the model. (AFP Photo) <\/p>\n<p>Using billions of images and datapoints, the model will create a constantly evolving experience.<\/p>\n<p>It is as if the system were &#8220;dreaming,&#8221; Erk\u0131l\u0131\u00e7 explained.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s moving all the time, because it&#8217;s gathering data. As soon as it builds one structure, it also affects the overall storytelling,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s coming from a more poetic place instead of a scientific place.
