{"id":1041984,"date":"2026-06-22T02:45:19","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T02:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1041984\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T02:45:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T02:45:19","slug":"the-countdown-is-on-for-the-liverpool-chester-liverpool-bike-ride-and-theres-still-time-to-enter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1041984\/","title":{"rendered":"The countdown is on for the Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride and there&#8217;s still time to enter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The countdown is officially on for the ever-popular Liverpool Chester Liverpool (LCL) Bike Ride and North West\u00a0Cancer Research is calling on cycling enthusiasts of all ages and abilities to register now.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking place on Sunday 5 July 2026, the event offers five carefully curated routes ranging from five to 100 miles, giving participants the freedom to\u00a0take on the challenge\u00a0at their own pace, whether they are taking to the saddle for the first time or are seasoned cyclists.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among this year\u2019s eager participants is North West\u00a0Cancer Research-funded PhD Researcher at the University of Liverpool,\u00a0Owen McGreevy,\u00a0who\u00a0will be cycling the\u00a050-mile\u00a0route.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This will be\u00a0Owen\u2019s first time taking on the challenge of LCL, and his mum and dad\u00a0will be joining him on the ride.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said: \u201cI was inspired to take part because I am\u00a0very grateful\u00a0for the work\u00a0North West\u00a0Cancer Research does across the region. They fund important cancer research, but they also support the training of young researchers like me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/7cddd257-1226-4f2d-90df-6044dc92eaa6-e1782091000821.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-242714\"\/>Credit: Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have always wanted to be a scientist, and my PhD has given me the opportunity to work on research that could help improve our understanding of cancer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCycling has always been something I have done with my family, especially when I was younger, so taking part in the Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride with my mum and dad feels\u00a0really special. It is both a personal challenge and a way to support a charity that has had\u00a0a big impact\u00a0on my life and career.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLike many people, my family and I have been affected by cancer, so being able to contribute to cancer research through my work is something that means a lot to me. Raising money for\u00a0North West\u00a0Cancer Research feels like a way of giving back, but also a way of helping to support future research, give other young scientists the same opportunities that I have had, and fund work that can help us better understand cancer, improve care, and move towards better treatments for patients.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s event is sponsored by national retailer Home Bargains, international food and drink company Princes, and\u00a0Chester-based solicitors, Oliver &amp;
