Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande who is a transfer target for Andoni Iraola’s side<\/p>\n

Jamie Carragher has explained why he believes Liverpool <\/a>are considering signing RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande this summer, but sent a warning about the club\u2019’ previous deals. The Reds have made their move for Diomande as they continue their summer transfer plans.<\/p>\n

Andoni Iraola was appointed as Liverpool boss earlier this month and has already welcomed one new signing to his squad.<\/p>\n

Victor Munoz was signed by Liverpool last week in a deal worth \u00a334.5million as the Reds agreed to sign the Spain international from Osasuna.<\/p>\n

Following the departure of Mohamed Salah<\/a> later this summer, Liverpool want to focus on strengthening their forward line, with Diomande a top target.<\/p>\n

It emerged last week<\/a> that Liverpool expressed their willingness to Leipzig to offer \u20ac100million (\u00a386m), with some suggestions that the Bundesliga club rejected a bid from the Reds.<\/p>\n

Diomande is continuing to impress for the Ivory Coast at this summer\u2019s World Cup, and the 19-year-old has also been credited as a potential target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.<\/p>\n

In 2025, Liverpool opted to spend more than \u00a3400m to strengthen their squad with the signings of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Giovanni Leoni, Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Jacquet will also move to Anfield<\/a> this summer after Liverpool agreed a \u00a360m deal with Rennes during the January transfer window.<\/p>\n

Carragher has now explained why Diomande\u2019s asking price could be so high, and sent a warning about the club\u2019s transfer business from the previous summer.<\/p>\n

“I thought he [Diomande] was fantastic in the first game of the World Cup. Less so in the second game, but still was a real danger,” Carragher told Sky Sports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I think what you’d be buying is potential, it’s not what he is right now. He’s a 19-year-old kid, he’s a young man. But when you look at him physically, he looks like he’s got all those attributes.<\/p>\n

“You think of the success Liverpool have had in the past with powerful, quick, wide men. You think of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, especially those two.<\/p>\n

“He certainly looks like he’s got those type of traits. That’s a big thing that Liverpool lacked last season, pace in those wide areas.<\/p>\n

“They’ve already got a signing in now from Spain, from Osasuna, Victor Munoz. Maybe they want a little bit of pace on the other side as well. I think it’s pretty obvious where Liverpool were lacking last season.<\/p>\n

“That looks like where they’re going in the market. But is he worth it? Time will tell.<\/p>\n
