A car was filmed running over a crowd of people in terrifying scenes before the LaLiga clash between Espanyol and Barcelona. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Local police have confirmed 13 people were injured in the shocking incident but none are thought to be serious.<\/p>\n

The police later confirmed that three of the people are being treated at the Sant Joan de Deu Barcelona Hospital (the Barcelona Children’s Hospital) but are in ‘mild condition’.<\/p>\n

Four others, who are described to be in ‘less serious condition’ have been taken to two separate hospitals.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, five are being treated at the scene while the remaining victim has already been discharged by the medical authorities.<\/p>\n

“Several people injured near Espanyol stadium after being hit by a vehicle,” a statement from the Police of Catalonia read.<\/p>\n

“The situation is controlled and in no case does it pose a risk to people inside the sports venue.”<\/p>\n

“The injured people are being treated by emergency services and the driver of the vehicle has been arrested,” the Police of Catalonia added.<\/p>\n

“There is a large police presence in the area.”<\/p>\n

It’s not clear who the driver is and what caused the driver of the vehicle to drive into the crowd.<\/p>\n

Although president of the Catalonia government Salvador Illa has been quoted claiming that the collision was accidental. <\/p>\n

“It was an accident, there were some injuries, none serious, fortunately,” he said. <\/p>\n

Police arrested the driver of the white Peugeot<\/p>\n

“The security and assistance services reacted quickly, and the spokesperson for the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan police) has provided explanations to various media outlets, as far as I know, and therefore, there is no major incident to regret.”<\/p>\n

The shocking scenes momentarily halted play inside the stadium, with some fans inside the ground alleged to have attempted to see the game get cancelled.<\/p>\n

Several Espanyol players were seen in communication with home spectators behind the goal, before they then gestured towards the Spanish official.<\/p>\n

The referee then halted the game before speaking to members of both benches and the police with the match resuming two minutes later.<\/p>\n

It’s widely reported that fans inside the ground were told on the PA system that there were no serious injuries or fatalities.<\/p>\n

Barcelona<\/a> can secure the LaLiga title with a win as it will take them an unassailable seven points clear of second-placed Real Madrid<\/a> with two matches remaining.<\/p>\n
