The goal is to improve performance and energy efficiency while reducing latency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts428712456 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">This initiative is set to contribute to what is anticipated to be the world\u2019s first large-scale AI system powered by a purely photonic network. This is an important step toward developing infrastructure technologies that can support future generations of AI systems in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts1586223085 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">AMD and Dell Technologies are collaborating with the University of Cambridge to enhance the UK\u2019s national AI infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts1510845988 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">This initiative includes the development of the new Zenith AI supercomputer and the Sunrise fusion AI system, in partnership with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts963935280 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">Zenith is a significant AI-for-science platform funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
