During a stop on his media victory tour following<\/a> his U.S. Open win last weekend, Wyndham Clark was asked about an old tweet of his about a current NFL starting quarterback.<\/p>\n

The tweet in question is from December 2016 when the quarterback was a college football star at Oklahoma. Clark played golf at Oklahoma State that year before transferring to Oregon.<\/p>\n

It would have been a decent guess that the\u00a0golfer\u2019s “I hate baker mayfield” tweet<\/a> was related to the rivalry between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, but that\u2019s not the case.<\/p>\n

During an appearance on the\u00a0Pardon My Take<\/a> podcast, which aired on Wednesday, Clark was asked about the almost 10-year-old post. He revealed that he understandably fired off the post after an ex-girlfriend of his cheated on him with Mayfield.<\/p>\n

“I’m trying to decide if I should tell the story. Alright, screw it, I don’t care. People already hate me<\/a>\u2026 My girlfriend at the time cheated on me with Baker Mayfield,” Clark said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0“But here’s what I would say\u2026 I’m actually a Baker fan now, I think he’s a homie. That’s your initial response, \u2018Screw that guy.\u2019 But really it’s screw the\u2026 she cheated on me.”<\/p>\n

Wyndham Clark doesn’t see why he and Baker Mayfield can’t hang out on the golf course<\/p>\n

All that is behind Clark now. He\u2019s not still holding a grudge against Baker. He\u2019s hoping that the two athletes can become bros and go golfing after finally revealing the story behind the tweet.<\/p>\n

“This is personal. I hope this is a bro moment for us to be like, \u2018Oh, bro, I didn\u2019t know. My bad. She never told me,\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s all good, we\u2019re homies, let\u2019s play golf.\u2019 That\u2019s where I hope this comes from.”<\/p>\n
