A couple of former Leeds United<\/a> managers are managing countries at this summer\u2019s World Cup.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marcelo Bielsa<\/a> needs to get a result against Spain in Uruguay\u2019s last group game to give them any hope of progressing into the knockout stage.<\/p>\n

Whilst Jesse Marsch\u2019s<\/a> Canada side finished second in their group. This is despite falling to a 2-1 defeat to Switzerland in their final group game. This was a major blow for Canada, as a draw would have seen them finish top of the group.<\/p>\n

This would\u2019ve ensured that their round of 32 game was in Canada. However, they will now have to play in LA as a result of finishing second. Despite qualifying for the knockouts, Ian Wright was critical of Marsch following their defeat to Switzerland.<\/p>\n

As Leeds fans, we\u2019re all too familiar with the classic Marsch jargon that was reiterated every week after we lost.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, this has continued since he took charge of Canada.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the game, Marsch was quick to rattle through his usual catchphrases. He was proud of his group for their work ethic and praised his team\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n

However, Wright took issue with the former Leeds manager\u2019s post-match interview and the claims he made regarding his side.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t make sense that you\u2019ve got the opportunity to win a game and stay in your country, where you\u2019re going to have to have the fans\u2019 support, and he\u2019s talking about how much he believes in this team and the heart of his team,\u201d Wright said whilst on punditry duties for ITV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should\u2019ve had that at the start of the game, where they could\u2019ve stayed here (Canada) and had a better chance (in the knockouts). Sometimes he sounds a bit performative to me. I don\u2019t want to be nasty or anything, but he just sounds like he\u2019s saying the right thing for the sake of saying it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wright\u2019s comments hit the nail on the head with Marsch. His interviews are a massive reason as to why he never resonated with the Leeds fanbase and ultimately had a brief spell in West Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

49ers will have learned from Jesse Marsch\u2019s spell at Leeds<\/p>\n

Although the 49ers were not the main shot callers when Andrea Radrizzani made the diabolical decision to replace Bielsa with Marsch, hopefully, they learned from that mistake.<\/p>\n

When Farke eventually needs to be replaced as manager, his successor must be a better fit for Leeds than Marsch was post-Bielsa. <\/p>\n

Aside from being the right tactical fit, a manager must also have the personality to manage Leeds United.<\/p>\n

As a fanbase, we are very emotional. It serves us to have a calm manager on the sidelines rather than Marsch. With the American\u2019s erratic touchline antics conveying anything but calm to his team.<\/p>\n

At this point, we can look back on the Marsch era and laugh. But if the 49ers truly want to establish United as a Premier League outfit, far better planning needs to be in place for whenever Farke is no longer our manager.<\/p>\n
